Is the \'Holley Carb\' a standard fit for the 13B? as I might have one on my FC (RAZ) yet to start.

I dont think so, but when I got my first series 1, holley did a conversion kit for the 12a.

I wouldn\'t go out of your way to remove all the egi stuff off the 13B Cliff that\'d be quite a job and some might argue going backwards in terms of reliability etc. Up to you of course, just personal opinion.(Says me pulling a perfectly good 12A out of mine.....:D)

Each to their own Tim - if we all lived in the same street, drove the same cars etc; etc; what a sad life we would live.
No I didn\'t know what a Holley set up was intially and just wondered.  To be honest I\'m not really the type for modifying away from standard - thats just me.

Fair enough Cliff-what colour is the FC?

Will be interesting to see how car runs with holley  at the moment it has a weber ida and runs great but i suspect the emissions test at MOT might not agree  with it  Still sorting some electrics on car what\'s the most common fault with electric windows neither work so it must be power fault gary

It\'s red Tim

Hadn\'t long acquired JAZ when I saw this on eBay and from the description I just fancied it.
My plan is to start this when JAZ is roadworthy.

In my experience window motors just don\'t fail. (Never had one that didn\'t go wiz wiz everytime on 3 cars.

Window switches seem to get power from a fusible link, then through the Ignition Switch to a 30A fuse in the fuse box. From there power goes to the 2 window switches and inside each there is a pair of changeover contacts to send power either to the positive \'up\' connection on the respective motor or to the positive \'down\' connection.

There is a common looped earth to chassis from each switch; the earth is connected through the switch to the \'down\' side of the motor each time you send a positive power feed to the \'up\' contact, and this earth is changed over to the \'up\' contact every time you send power to the \'down\' connection.

David Are there any other fusible links beside the ones one ns inner wing ?

David Nock (RIP)

No, just those 3. I don\'t know which link it is but the wires coming off it should be coloured white/red. I say wires \'cos another white/red comes off to another circuit for the electric mirrors.
I stress that diagrams in Haynes are a bit of a hotch poch, not always exactly drawn for S3.

Steve-A

On my s2 neither of the windows worked, the problem was simply that the switch was full of 25 years worth of dust. Quick clean out with electrical cleaner and a squirt of silicone lubricant on the window runners and they are good as new.

The previous owner, before Ross, did buy a whole window motor and mechanism though so thats going spare if anyone needs it.

I have been given the opportunity to purchase what i believe to a first Generation RX7. I only ever saw it once a year or two ago. I think it was about a Y reg or A reg.

It is a one owner car from new, with low mileage, blue in colour, garaged all its life with FSH I presume.

Could anyone hesitate a guess on value, I think I will be paying under a grand ?
has to be a bargain isnt it ?

Also When did 1st gen car become 2nd gen ? Please.

Don.

RamoNZ

Whether it is a bargain or not depends on the body - if its rotten, its hardly worth a few hundred to be stripped for bits.

If it is solid on top and underneath (stored in a garage with salt on the underside is as bad as stored outside) then by rights is can and should be worth £2-2.5K

If it is solid and you can pick it up for under a grand I would say go for it - engines can be replaced and there are usually a couple for sale at any one time.

1st to 2nd Gen transition was in 1986, yours is most likely the \'Series 2\' with the larger rear lights rather than the smaller rear lights on the S1
