Thanks John, \'Not Found\' as that reg on DVLA so possible broken up long ago.....(A couple of my old cars come up as \'Not Found\' as well).
Anyway I\'ve noted it as a scrapper and if anyone mentions it in the future I\'ll let you know. What colour was it by the way?

When you get the Fife car home will you give us all a picture tour please?

Reckon this one could be a good buy if you\'re handy with the hands and welding torch.

And to complete the Trio of old friends advertised for second time around, that Silver S2 1983, that was in R C Woods, Hounslow is back on Autotrader. He wants £1495 for it, 76,000 miler.

No pics whatsoever (as before), so no Reg and absolutely no idea of condition.
Last advert July 2010......how not to sell a car thinks I, particularly as it\'s a trader.

I\'ll keep an eye on that silver one. After thinking about it when that Scottish one came up, a cheap 1st gen with tax and test would be perfect to keep me going between selling the mx5 and getting Rexanne finished.

Well I\'ve put so much time and effort into Rexanne so far, and I\'m getting impatient to drive her! So next best thing.....

Realistically I\'m on the look out for something to run once the mx5 is sold, while I take my time to do Rexanne to the standard I\'d like.

My criteria are:

Less than £1000 with tax + test
RWD
Manual gearbox
Insurable (no 3L twin turbo 300zx for example)
Some form or redeeming feature, such as fun to drive or bit of style to it etc.

Another standard mx5 is one option, but I\'ve had two already. I\'d considered a e30 3 series, but the more I look into it the more it looks like I\'d get a rot box for my budget. But it occurred to me reading that thread about the scottish s3,that an FB ticks all the boxes!

1st gens are one of the bargains of the classic car world at the moment..... you can pick up a mot\'d example for upwards of £500...

Very simple cars to work on and maintain as long as the engine is strong

just a bit juicey to run as a daily driver ( depending on what sort of milage you do)

Not the easiest cars to sell on ( unless you threaten to strip it for parts.... should find a buyer pretty quickly then....!)

Steve-A

Exactly Ian. And because of Rexanne I\'m pretty on the ball with how they go together already and have a big stack of spare parts essentially!

If I can get a £500er that\'d be great. Less money spent on daily drive = more money to spend on Rexanne and other £500 cars are gonna be ford fiesta etc and I swore I\'d never drive another econobox :P

I get the impression it would be as good if not better than my 13b in the mx5 is and I\'m daily driving that, so not too worried.
