HOSS

hi all

well ive been hanging around an reading posts for a while,to learn some stuff an gain some much needed info

i have just got myself an 88 red fc none turbo gen2
from a member on here

Brad1234

but he got it from another member on here called

DemonRx4

but now iam the proud owner lol:driving

first off if anyone has any info on her i would be really greatfull

from what brad told me,an from what ive read about her on here

she seems to have this

-Rear spoiler (duck tail style)
-Turbo 2 wheels with very good tyres
-Hi flow manifold (custom made, but bought from Rotechniks so it\'s not a dog)
-Air pump has been removed and blocked off
-Magnecor leads
-FD Spark plugs
-k&N Panel filter
- New gauge backs so they\'re white but glow blue and red when on
-New lower arms (powder coated red) with poly-bushes
-New/used nearside back box
-Turbo 2 lip spoiler
-Hawk race pads (not fitted)
(got this info from demonRx4\'s post)
an i understand from demonRx4\'s posts that the engine was re-built at 77000,its now on 94000
so effectivly 17000 old since the re-build

also has

Tokico HP gas struts,on the rear (they any good?)
seems to have a straight through exhaurst system (man its loud,i love it :Giggle),but i get some MASSIVE pops, bangs an cracksles from it,is that normal??

an seems not much has changed while brad had it:)

here she is now
ive had her a few weeks now an love it,totally hooked, she drinks a LOT :chat
but hey-ho,so did my old scooby turbo :Laugh
ive now fitted

-sleepy eye kit
-strut brace
-lots of T-cut :Laugh:Laugh

i want to get her fully undersealled as soon as poss

but also want advice on airfilters
weather to change to a cone type, with proper ducting,an which one people recommend
or stick with the K&N panel in the stock box?

also OTHER than turboing (dont want to go down that route)
how to get more power from the old girl (not that shes lacking, but you know us petrolheads :Giggle)

i would also like to lift the rear of the bonnet at the hinges,as i like the look
so has anyone done this? or any info on how to?

also on the oil front, ive read a lot about the whole do\'s an donts with syinthetic oils, but iam confused as hell
are some good an some bad ?
or are all bad?
or should i just stick to mineral?

sorry its a long winded post, laced with loads of questions, but thanks in advance

also iam from YORK

cheers
iain

Brett

Welcome to MRC :wave

You\'re best bet is to have a read through the technical stickes etc, you should get most of your answers in there :)

FC\'s rule! :god

thanks for the welcome brett

Hi Iain and welcome to MRC,

Nice to see an EGI they are getting few and far between now,

If it were me I would just put a filter in the box, did this on my own EGI some 10 years ago but have a look in the box first as the car has some mods it may have an aftermarket fiter anyway.
All the best Clive

Brett

A decent panel filter is best - I tried lots of combinatiosn and you can\'t beat a high flow panel in the stock airbox.

HOSS

thanks guys

it does have a K&N panel filter inside the box

so should i stick with that then?
instead of an aftermarket filter,an ducting

Brett

I\'d leave it as it is, just ensure the filter is kept clean and well oiled. :wave

brad was a little upset, but couldnt insure it
some kind of mix up with insurance

so it had to go

i saw it on ebay,an missed it (but it failed to hit its reserve)
we exchanged, texts an emails,an sorted it out

so happy me,now has her :driving:Giggle

m1tch

Just remember to warm it up before you drive it around and keep it topped up with oil and it will go on and on and on :D

HOSS

sounds like my EX:evillaugh:evillaugh

cheers mitch

always warm up my cars, always have, but thanks for the heads up

m1tch

No worries :) I just don\'t like people to thrash rotarys from cold cause they don\'t know what they are doing, but you seem to :) so its all good :D
