lol well are you getting that block for a steal :P

karl_tate

yeh, got the block last night, waterseal failure.

ewww what a mess.

not sure what im going to do with it yet but plan on stripping it down this weekend if i can get a 54mm socket.

also my dads machine at work is fixed and he cleaned up my old, knackered housing and rotor to see what they would turn out like, omg, how clean :D

think i might put it on the mantel piece lol

bit of a comparison, old vs cleaned housing

still got this mess to sort out as well :(   :rollin

i pulled all the masking off the other day as well, what a pain in the a$$, had a nice football afterwords though. this is how its looking now with it all uncovered and the finish is quite good but the pictures dont pick up on it very well.

is that a chip so soon mate

anyways look cool and i really would not want to get that dirty :(

karl_tate

erm, where are you looking?? to the very right near the bottom??

tbh it could well be as it feels "soft" if you know what i mean for some reason, i dont think it would take much to chip it :(

lol just masking the engine bay back up while you put the engine back in! also why did you need that block off mark?? thought you already had good parts?

lee49

really good read tis project is.
coming along really nicely and to have done it yourself must take some of the pain off the old engine going so soon!

karl_tate

i bought the block just as spare parts but most of it could be scrap if its thrown some tips, hopefully getting a 54mm socket today so will find out later :D

i already have a freshly built block which is sitting next to it, think there is a few pictures further back.

cheers lee, its getting there now, i could of just put the new engine back in and be done with it and it could of been back on the road ages ago but it was winter and i get carried away lol

well no luck getting a 54mm socket but the trusty old chisel and hammer did the job :D

everything seems in good condition will all the apex seals in tact which was nice and it was the inner seals that had gone.
this was the easiest engine i have stripped down, carnt believe how simple it is, took me around 30 mins and it was all in bits :yes

and all ready to be pack away for cleaning

i also made a start on polishing my turbo up and it has turned out quite well considering what it looked like before. spent around 2 hours on it :2eek

cheers kash,

yeh its an absolute arse and i was covered head to toe lol

well most of the wiring is now complete for the fuse box :D just need a few more connectors, didnt order enough

its going to sit some where here, i was going to hide it but for the practicality, if i do happen to have a problem, then its easy to get to.

lol it wasnt required on most of the wires, just used the tool that i bought with the fuse box and connectors etc

cheers rob but it looks more confusing than it is, tried to make it as simple as possible as not to confuse things.

obviously i had all the wires labels up as per the previous pictures which helped no end but yeh it does look complicated lol

clutch should be here this week all being well :D :D
