Just got my car back from major works, and the Defi gauges now have a bit of a problem.

When they go through their "boot-up" mode the backlights go on as usual, and everything seems fine. When they then get back to their idle state, the backlights switch off.

If I put my lights on, they will light up. So my only option at the moment is to drive round in the day with my sidelights on if I want to see Oil, boost, etc.

Any suggestions ?

Cheers, Craig

check the wiring.

I have older (non BF) Defi gauges which only light when lights are on as per your situation. - but I can read when not lit.

Perhaps the wiring has been done as for mine instead of for BF which must be lit if engine running.

The back light is only meant to come on with the lights and during the start up sequence.

dude simple to fix
the defi s gauges should be daisy chained they have the out put to the first gauge coming from the wrong port on the controller swop it for sender 2 to sender 1 or vice a versa

Out of interest I noticed in that manual the Defi Link Controller needs to have a series of switches set to accomodate how many cylinders the car has. What are you supposed to set it at if your engine hasn\'t got any? ;)

OK, swapped the gauge sender wire over and one gauge lit, the other didn\'t !! Removed and replugged the d/c power wire and then both reset and lit. Thanks for the pointer.

BTW, the dip switches for cylinders are only used for a tachometer. You set to 4 cylinders for a twin rotor, or 6 cylinders for a triple rotor.
