Hi,

For the last couple of days, my fuel pressure gauge has been twitching, only by about 1mm either side of normal pressure, but its twitching.

Today, on the motorway, I started getting loss of power, and major hesitation. When I accelerate, it will be fine for a few seconds, then i lose power, boost drops off, and power is lost. I can take my foot off and accelerate again and it\'ll do the same thing.

I could see the fuel pressure was way lower than it should have been (was at about 2.5, normally 3.5-4 when driving (i forget the units, sorry))

Thinking back, there was also completely different, much louder noise when starting the car this morning when the fuel pump primed...

I didn\'t have much fuel in this morning, so I filled it up, and the fuiel pressure has rised back to ~3.5-4 and the hesitation has gone... i reckon it\'ll come back when I use up more fuel though...

So, is the pump dying?  How the hell do i change one of them then :D

On an fd they are very easy to do. Might be worthwhile upgrading it to one from a supra, as I understand it, they are the same fit and flow more!
:Laugh LOL

as far as I know its the stock pump, yeah, but it has seen some action in the past - ther is some kind of swirl pot type thing going on in the tank apparently.

don\'t want to spend loads and don\'t need a massively uprated one as I\'m only running about 300fhp

You can grab a decent 250-280ltr pump off ebay for around £50 that will do the job.

I have run a BNR33 Sard 280 uprated pump and all fine and running an Evo 7 fuel pump in the new one at the moment.

I had the same problem for ages, check your voltage running to the top of the fuel pump should be near 12v.

Mine dropped randomly to 8v and back up, so ran a secondary live from the fuse box live (after confirming full voltage at fuse box and that relay was ok)
to the top of the fuel pump (With extra in-line fuse) checked voltage and all ok.

This along with a replacement pump has fixed the problem, and the car is smooth throughout the rev range and full performance returned, \'job done\' :Thumbsup!

Hope this helps

p.s. also check battery and both live/neg terminals! :yes
