Yes i presume so, have seen power increases of 75 to 80 rwhp just by going from 1.4 to 1.6 on large frame turbos

skybusr34

go a gt 42 at 1.6 bar would be quite high hp then!
if i had 8 hour to cut down a tree. i`d spend 6 sharpening the axe

550 something at the wheels last run of the day the car was hot and the 888 tyres smoking lol

I\'m loving the information, I am meeting up with Ed tomorrow so hopefully I can rack your brains too?

I\'ve noticed that not much boost is run on the 13b and a fair amount of power is gained, rotaries are for wizards!

I would assume as stated the GT35r would be good (As is on a piston) if you could run high boost levels say 1.4bar+ but  this is not the case with the rotary!

The Fujita Engineering RX7 is running the TT set up and seems perfect for the track! Maybe i am aiming to high?

Reliable 400+ rwhp 13b = Which turbo at what boost?

Also not sure what avenue to take on purchase and kits? Turbo Dynamics, second hand rebulit, American import, Jap Brand?

Sorry haven\'t said thank you for your time :cheers

If its for drift there might be a setup in the drift scene that is prefered.

if buying a kit from the USA make sure its been designed for RHD rex.

im pretty sure the rx6 tub is good size for drifting

As Jay said, Darren runs 1.6bar and hits 550+rwhp easily, I run 1.15 bar and get 550 fwhp. We both use the same turbo, half bridge, fuelling etc. Just proves what 0.4 bar can do.

The GT42 are only laggy in 1st gear once they are spooling and in boost not much will touch them. Cant be that bad as Darren uses it as a track car and I do the same with mine. For drifting though I would stick to a GT35 as you dont need mega power to get smoking. A big turbo will be overkill

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

i believe there many gt35r making upto 600 in the states on the 13b. there are many many versions now

yep coz the yanks use verrrrrry optomistic dynojet dynos, then when stick it on the strip the power quoted is not reflected in the terminal speed on the quarter mile

I\'m using an apexi rx6 turbo on my drift car for next year. The needs for drifting are very different to the average rex which are usually tuned for massive figures and straight lines.
IMO its only at the very highest levels that the needs for a drift car start to be the same as a big track Rex. At anything other than European Pro level you are better setting up a drift Rex in the same way you would for a short twisty track. The types of tracks that cars like Lotus Elises would excel on, to give an example.
I had a bigger turbo running 545bhp last year and although it was great for any large tracks I know it would be not practical for the British Drift Championships next year. You don\'t get enough fine throttle control with big turbo cars, especially just off-throttle (when you first start to open the throttle) and when boost kicks in. Rex\'s are so good in the grip department that they tend to bite back more than other drift cars when they transition between grip and skidding so I reckon you are best off really concentrating on driveability and not big numbers.
The other thing is big power rotaries may have big BHP but thats partly due to having such a big rev range. On track days  you can stay in the optimum high range but on drift days (and also if you are racing) its desirable to have a wider power band because you can\'t always keep it where you want it. Big turbo cars tend to have a dipped power graph where the torque doesn\'t come in until later, and then with a big bang. More sensible sized turbos have a nice straight power graph which is much better to drive with.

Lots of great information!

I had a good chat with Ed today while he was at REWorxs and also with Max.

Decided to go down the route of a T64 \'Cant remember exact specifications \'Maybe you can remind me Ed?\' :god T4 flange etc

Or a TD06-25g

Either way I think i\'m gonna be giving you a ring Ed for some info if thats cool
