I just picked up an Innovative Motorsport wideband lambda kit (LC-1).

it comes with a CD Rom with software but it doesn\'t work on my laptop.
It doesn\'t seem to make a connection with the serial port.

I don\'t have a serial port on my laptop but got an adapter (driver\'s installed)

I also tried the software available on the website but it doesn\'t work either.

Anybody got this kit and got it hooked up?

Thx

I have one, get yourself a serial to USB adapter from Maplins. Wasnt expensive. Works a treat.

Speedworks

acc to the pc shop the USB adapter works as it should (pc doesn\'t ask for any installing when it is being hooked up)

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 6400 (2007) with windows xp professional ver. 2002

if that helps...

Now, for all it helps, what\'s Maplins and how different can these adapters get?

DRAGON

Get a dell with a serial port and it will hook up fine. ive had loads of trouble getting those convertors to work.

With the maplins adapter you get a cd rom to install so it picks up the changes and knows you are using the adapter instead of a serial port. Dont bother with the innovate software on the disc, download the new version from the website. I could get it to install ok though before I bought the adapter. I have an Asus eeepc laptop running win xp pro with the service pack.

I have a maplins serial to USB and i too find it works fine. I use it with my Datalogit software. Works a treat.

Ditto here - I got the cheapo maplins USB to serial and it works no bother - came up as COM4 on my Acer

You will probably need to change USB serial port to Com1 or 2 as drivers tend to to use a higher number around 10. Right click on the My Computer icon, click on properties and access devices menu. Right click on offending Com device, click properties, click port settings tab, click advanced. Change Com port to 1 or 2.

Have posted some snap shots from Vista, but XP is similar...

I tried everything to get mine working, but this was a few years ago and it wasnt a Maplins one.

Speedworks

FD3UK thanks for that.. it seems my laptop doesn\'t have that field "Ports (COM&LPT)

great...

nikp

Which means your OS has not recognised the converter cable.

FD3UK

As above, or you did not have the USB to serial converter plugged in when checking device menu?

Speedworks

well I have done some searching around and in my advanced settings for COM ports (yeah it was there afterall) I found that it says that my COM ports COM3 to COM7 are "in use"

this thing is getting on my nerves...

why can\'t this frigg\'in thing just work by plugging it in? What else is Windows XP good for :D

royal

Have you picked a different com port then? (one that isn\'t in use)

Speedworks

mine uses Com 7 but it doesn\'t wrk on my laptop, it does on a friends
so I just foled out the settigns and programmed it.
Doesn\'t really need it for the rest as I read the logs on my datalogit
