Hi guys,

is there any problems with leaving Rexy sitting in garage for a few months left to her own devices?

Due to various MOT/Battery/Hoilday issues she\'s not been started in about 2 months and won\'t be for about another 1 1/2.

The alarm has already drained the battery and I know (hope?!) that the PFC won;t lose its map. But is there any other problems with leaving her for so long?

Obviously when she first goes out again i\'ll be extra careful to get her warm then get a good thrashing to clean out any yuck :)

Cheers

No major issues, I dont think. The apexi wont loose its map. I would possible stick in a nice fresh tank of petrol, and check tyre pressures ;)

Possibly worth sticking in one of those little bottles of fuel stabilser to stop it "going off". Unleaded denatures really amazingly quickly, and turns into a hard lacquer varnish stuff if left long enough. I\'ve had bike carbs knackered by the stuff going off in the emulsion tubes cos they\'ve been stood without being drained. Conversely, I stored a z400 for about three years with a bottle of Motorex fuel stabilser added to the tank, charged the battery up, and she fired second go. You should be ok for just a couple of months, but I\'d expect the fuel to be a lot less efficient by then, at best. Really is incredible how quickly it goes off

Keep putting charge into the battery and keep the tyres up to pressure, otherwise both can be ruined by standing.

Change the oil, before storing - the old oil will be full of fuel, etc and it can (over time) become acidic and begin to damage the bearing faces, etc.

This is really good thread, I was thinking about this myself now the summer has gone (well did it ever show its face). So its change the oil, take the battery off and put on charge. What about the cooling system anything to look at there???? also not to sure about a fuel stabilser.

Just checked my car after a year and it has 3/4 a tank of petrol in it, should I somehow drain it, or would it be okey to run a motor in with some octane boosters?
