As some of you know (who have read some of my threads) i recently put a fmic into my TII.

My mods so far are:
Blitz induction (still with air flow meter)
FMIC
still have cat in mid pipe
not sure on down pipe
kakimoto back box
3" exhaust all the way through by the looks of things
chipped N380 ecu
FCD
air pump removed but not the air control valve

after the fmic was installed the boost seems to be higher than with stock interwarmer but u cant really feel the boost of the turbo. its more progressive and not so aggressive.

i assume that is due to the greater volume in the fmic and should of been expected?!
also with the greater volume in the fmic is it normal for the idle to be increased?
my bac does not have a screw to change the idle and has to be done at the end of the throttle cable like most NA cars.
(i have tried to swap the bac with one that has a screw but it does not make a difference to my engine!)

now, anyone got any advice for me on what to do next?
i want to remove the air flow meter, what do i need to be able to do this?

also if i put a bigger turbo (hybrid) in then i guess i need a new ecu. can i add turbo and apexi power fc only or do i need to get bigger fuel injectors.
financially i\'d like to do this stage by stage as my wallet is not as big as my exhaust!

my ideal spec would be something around 350bhp min to 400bhp.
atm the engine is not ported though will get this done as a final stage as it cost much more to port it than find turbo etc.

i also have a knightsport N374 ecu which i installed in my car over the weeknd but the engine kept dieing as idle was really low. is it known that if you change ecu you have to change the idle of the car also?
either that or theres a fault with the knightsport ecu!

any advice, good or bad, though pref good will be much (me -> :god:King <- this could be you!!)

also would an apexi power fc help in general with the mods i have atm with giving more boost and making the most out my current setup?

many thanks in advance

So many questions !

Ok let\'s have a go at covering some of them:

1) Eliminating the AFM or MAF - to do this you have 3 options :

a) Use an AFM eliminator box - it works with the MAP sensor and RPM to produce a signal that can be fed to the stock ECU in place of the AFM

b) Use a piggy back - such as eManage Ultimate - that offers an AFM elimination map

c) Use a standalone ECU such as Power FC or Microtek that doesn\'t need the AFM as it uses MAP sensor (like the FD does)

2) Low idling with the Knightsports ECU

I found when swapping ECU\'s in the car, that some of them require you to readjust the TPS and reset the idling and timing on the car as they are subtly different.  You also need to do all this \'setting up\' when the engine is warm, no point setting idle if the car is still in warm up phase.  The field service manual tells you how to set these items up - you\'ll also find instructions on here.  One thing I would add is that you should find out what the knightsports chipped ECU was set up for - it may simply be that it\'s setup for something that\'s not on your car or you have something it doesn\'t expect.

As for your next tuning steps - I\'d seriously consider a Power FC - it will replace your stock ECU - allow ellimination of the AFM and also allow you to setup the car safely for higher boost - something the chipped ECU\'s are going to limit you on.  More over, the Power FC is plug and play with the harness and will allow you to keep the Oil Metering Pump - if you go Microtec then you will eliminate the OMP as it can\'t drive it, and then have to go premix.  Any standalone ECU or piggy back will not require the FCD and you should be taking that off when you do make that change.

Yep I had to tweak the Idle screw on the BAC valve when I put my Kightsports ECU on. Not much mind it was just cutting out as it was set lower than my stock ECU. I also forgot to remove my FCD :Hammer when I installed the Kightsports ECU. This caused the car to overfuel, flame loads and generally behave funny betwwen 2k and 3k rpm.
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Thing with the PFC is finding one for the FC! You can adapt an FD version with an additional loom. Otherwise Microtech is a good option. As Prof says, you then need to re-calibrate the TPS (which is what I\'m failing to do with my dash unit currently! however I\'m going to stick a laptop on it tonight so we should be in business)

nice.. thanks for the replies :cheers
i know its a lot of questions!! but never done the proper tuning things before so any tips are good.

PFC i can get from HK so think i will do that as next stage.
hope will make me :burnout more than it is now.
are there any advantages over the apexi PFC to the microteh and the other brands?

If i install a PFC can i set it up myself with a little adjustment here and there to allow for the mods or do i have to take to a specialist?

Oh, also jus been looking at some PFC. wots the difference between the normal PFC and the "D-Jetro" PFC?

not sure on that, but make sure it is a PFC for the FC not an FD

Quotebut make sure it is a PFC for the FC not an FD
Echo that. Thay don\'t make the PFC for the FC anymore so they are rare to come by and expencive to boot. Think there is one on Flebay at the moment for around £650 without the hand controller.
Also As its not a new unit it would be programed for someone elses car and their mods. If it were me I would be taking it to a specialist and getting it installed and mapped all at once.

can anyone recommend what pfc would be best?
apexi? motech? haltech etc..?

L18M

also with the bigger intercooler. does the BOV need to be upgraded. does the bov need ot eb replaced once a pfc is installed?

fingers crossed i can source a new pfc from hk!
only seen one fc over there.

Prof

Your BOV will be fine

As for the Power FC - you need to get one that has the FC harness - then it\'s plug and play to swap it out.  And as adereed said - it will have someone else\'s map in it if you get a 2nd hand one, so hunt around for a base map - one of the tuners on here will probably have that, and can tune it for you - it\'s possible to do it yourself - but you\'ll get better results (and it will be safer) in the hands of a tuner who\'s had experience with the ECU.

grinder

or get the FD one and the wiring harness from rx7club.com - that way you can get a brand new Apexi

like most people have said - get a microtech - most tuners in the UK can tune them

i spoke to WGT and he said even with a stock car you can prob get a 40 bhp increase just by adding and tuning a microtech

Quote from: BBCFC;522264can anyone recommend what pfc would be best?

remember a PFC is a specific ECU made by Apex\'i, I think you mean what ECU would be best?

common options for the FC:
1) Apex\'i Power FC (if you can find the FC3S harness)
2) Microtech - either LT8s or LT10s
3) Haltech
4) Motec M2R
