My aftermarket water temp gauge stopped reading normal values recently (appears to be reading air temp!) so its either dropped out or is knackered...

Where are likely locations for this sensor...  where is the stock position? and where would be a better position for it if any?  Bottom of the rad?

the stock one in a FB is in the rear iron, i also have 1 in the top of the rad and 1 in the bottom, the top once switchs my fan and the bottom to my aftermarket gauge, that way if i do have a fan go i can see if before rather than after, not sure where you FD boys put one, top of the engine just after the theromstate i think is the usual

Which water temp sensor the one for the ecu or the stock gauge. My after market one is in the stock gauge hole.

RedRummy

ummm... dunno..  Isn\'t the stock gauge reading taken from the ecu reading?

all I know is my gauge isn\'t reading right and I need to find the sensor.. sharpish LOL

Would consider moving it to a better position if there is a \'best position\'

I think its on the back of the stat housing i think it\'s the one with two wires, i also think there is another one but not sure where that one is, alongside the sensor on the back of the stat housing, (have to remove alternator) there is a thermoswitch which switches on the fans with only one wire to it, this wire on my FD broke down so no fans! so i had to rewire that and replace the thermswitch with one from a FC, while i was in there, which switches on the fans at a lower temp. i also replaced the small coolant hose under the alternator at the same time, (mazda part best)

The stock gauge is also in the rear iron - next to the pressure gauge. The ECU temp sensor is in the back of the water pump housing.

Ive got a GReddy water temp gauge just plumbed in to the rad hose.

Works quite well, maybe 5oC difference to the Power FC Commander.

As above, just used a GReddy alloy union with a tap already cut in it for the sender. Cut the radiator hose in half and do up one half on each end of the union piece with a jubbly clip. Job\'s a good \'un! :Thumbs-up

RedRummy

nice one Nik....

thanks all...  :)

PS - WTF is a "GReddy alloy union", and where can I get one?

Presume you can get them from suppliers of GReddy water temp gauges guv, if not in the same pack.  Mine was fitted to the car when I bought it.

Good gauges BTW :)

It\'s not just greddy that do them. A few places actually do them.

Does anyone know the size of the Greddy alloy Union required for a standard rad hose?
:Laugh LOL
