I\'m looking to get a new set of gauges soon, nothing too expensive, maybe the Autometer ones or the Splitfire ones..

I need oil temp, water temp, oil press etc

Thing is.. most of the gauges have very wide ranging temperature scales.. like the one below, but my oil temp only really goes from 70-100 (once up to temp)..  more than 3/4 of the gauge is watsed space..... any chance of getting a gauge with a smaller scale and more detailed readings?

tbh dude that should do you fine - basically the main purpose s going to be to check it\'s below 120ish, and above 70ish - as long as it\'s in this range you\'re all good, providing you are not using it for hardcore data logging.

At the cheaper end of the scale, Autometer make some pretty good kit :)

my oil will NEVER get to 120 if I have anything to do with it...  :2eek:2eek

I always cool down if it goes even slightly above 100deg C

really need a scale of say zero (or maybe 40) to 120 max. covering whole dial face.

Defi\'s?

had a look and they\'re about £100 a guage!

would love some Defi\'s, but can\'t afford it right now :(

Wouldn\'t need new ones at all but the HKS ones I\'ve got have very small diamters and won\'t fit in the gauge pod...  much less than 52mm

The stock oil pressure gauge works fine, it\'s the sender that usually goes phut. Mine can show differences of up to 2 bar from the hyper-sensitive super-accurate GReddy one I fitted after-market, if it reacts at all.

Speaking of which, RedRummy, when I had my new memory gauges installed, I left the old oil pressure gauge that came out with Jason at Super 7 so he could use it to test the new wiring. As usually happens with the man, I never got it back! It\'s a GReddy white face 60mm one, the old style without the peak hold and memory functions, but it works fine, it\'d just need a sender (or wire into the stock one if it works!). You\'re welcome to blag it off Jason when you\'re next up there if you want it, it\'s no use to me and he\'s usually amenable to swapsies! Unless you want a matched set, of course, in which case it may not be too useful!

from memory my stack oil temp gauge goes from 40-140ish, so has a pretty good scale. they also do their water temp and oil pressure in mechanical so are nice and cheap! oil temp is electric only though...

linky if you are interested

That\'s pretty cautious ;)

I really would go with decent quality gauges rather than eBay specials - Autometer are proven to work but still cheap, likewise with the suggested stack ones.

Where is the stock oil pressure sender located?

Not exactly sure, but it\'s down somewhere on the housing beneath the oil filter, IIRC. I just put a nice new GReddy one into a sandwich plate rather than try to use the stock one, since it was likely to be the reason my oil pressures were apparently all over the place. That meant I could also keep the stock gauge connected, as I\'d rather it was working, even erratically than just sitting in the instrument cluster doing nothing.
