My mate has an FC3S and the power steering coolant pipe (in front of the rad) has rusted up and blown,

can this pipe be replaced with an oil cooler? would it be better?

also, the adjustable pulley for the P/S on the unit itself is loose, the bearing has gone, would replacing the bearing be best or would ot be better to upgrade the pully full stop? Also note the feathering on the brand new belt

Could there be any other faults causing this because i dont want to replace these parts and have it happen again

Don\'t worry mate, thats what mine has done, its a common fault with the cooler pipe, yours looks pretty good, mine made a mess:

You will probably find that there is corrosion around the bracket of the cooler pipe, as the powersteering is used it sprays out the small hole at high pressure.

just cut it out and replace it with a straight piece rubber. Its low pressure so can be jubilee clipped and this country you wont need the cooler unless its a dedicated track car.

I have never had a pas pump pully bearing go,  you would normally hear it making lots of noise, is it definately tight?  I would just pick up a second hand pully from a 50k miles car. In fact i have the whole pump and rack if your interested.

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

My resivoir has run out many a time, it sounds like a supercharger lol I will get it replaced but running on no fluid doen\'t seem to stop the system working lol I think mine is running on magic lol :D

well, he\'s concerned that because the rotary engine is so well balanced, having that little bit of extra pressure off the engine will throw it off a bit, then getting gouges in the engine wall.

we\'ve checked the other pulleys and there is literally no play in them whatsoever, the adjustable one i can grab hold of and shake it about 1mm.

forget the first bit completely,  people remove pas/water pumps, aircon, add superchargers, makes no difference what so ever.

Is the bolt in the middle of the pulley tight?
