sorry.  i don`t mean to come across as a missery gut`s.  i always wanted a corrado vr6.   i did all the calling around. getting silly quotes.   in the end i got the less powerful version.      why don`t you do the same. as previously said either a 1st /2nd gen rx7 or an mx5.  a friend of mine as got one.  i was well impressed with the 5.  good learning car. and the insurers will take the fact you`ve been driving a rear powered car into concideration.
if i had 8 hour to cut down a tree. i`d spend 6 sharpening the axe

ScuttleRX

Quotewhich does 0-60 in around 6.5-7. And can go 140 mph

How bout a integra type r? not rwd but one of the best handling fwd cars about, friend has one and I think its great, especially when the Vtec kicks in ;)

I managed to get my rx when i was 21, elephant.co.uk as a named driver when your that age might be worth a look :)

It depends how much your willing to pay. I\'m 20 with 2yrs ncb and tesco have just insured me for £1900 based on 7000miles a year. the only thing to remember is will it be your only car? Regular oil changes and servicing is a must also by the way most our age drive petrol will cost ya @ 15-20 miles per gallon. So it is expensive. As for it being your 1st rwd car it is my 1st too and 1st few days i had it were wet so i drove it slowly with my dad to a big empty car park and he taught me how to handle the car in the wet if it slips out. Obviously i\'m no expert still but i\'m glad i did it in there 1st and not on the road. If you still cant afford 1 my m8s got a lil suzuki cappuccino and tuned it up a bit so it goes quicker now (sub 7secs) and it\'s rwd. being only 660cc turbo insurance is cheaper. Might be worth a look (try //www.score.org.uk for info). hope this helps.

If i can get insurance i can afford to run it. I might give tesco\'s a ring see what they say.

I have to drive about 25 miles to work so think i\'d need another car for that.  Maybe do a policy with a second car on it but might be more expensive than insuring them seperatly.

And as for the cappuccino....I\'ll get back to u.:)

I thought the rx7 would be alright to insure as I thought it was group 18 insurance??  You guys think id have more luck on something like a supra?

ScuttleRX

have u got any online quotes yet mate? elephant might be a good place to start, once you\'ve put details in once you can keep changing cars and compare.

Supras same group or higher i think, although i got quoted cheaper for a supra than for a rx...go figure

The UK released model might have been (though I\'m sceptical) but the grey import is most certainly a group 20 car.

Would try elephant but u have to be 21.

Just found out that its not group 18 thats the old rx7!!  All gen 3\'s are group 20 i think thats why insurance is so much!

A supra is insurance group 19, just got a quote on the AA, 4200, and they want 4700 for my little 106 gti...odd.

Might give a decent insurance company a try on the supra.

As some one else has mentioned, it might be worth going for a lower insurance FR car for a few years.  Don\'t know the MX-5 they have great handling and can be converted to turbo/SC for 2-3K (though then you hit the old insurance question).  The MK2 1.8 theoretically is capable of sub 8 seconds -60  and ~138 MPH.

Another option would be to go for an FC for several years.  I seem to remember some one here is selling a well known FC turbo for a couple of K.

someone somewhere will sort you out.

Im 21 with a \'95 Type R2.  Im paying £1400 a year, with full bodykit, exhaust, filters, and £2k stereo cover.

who do i thank for that?

ELEPHANT!!!!  :rollin

did you tell Elephant about your mods though ?

last I heard they wouldn\'t do aftermarket air filters

J4P RX

Same here.  Heard they dont like other mods either, or Jap Imports.  They gave me a good quote on a UK car, but once I told them it was an import they wanted about £1500 extra.

MintyFresh

The guy i spoke to didnt have a problem with anything i told him.  He kept asking me how well it handled in the wet, and what speed i thought it would top out at.

He was either really interested in the car, or it was a subtle way of seeing how i drive a car.

Deano.

Elephant do not cover aftermarket filters or adjustable suspension

If its not mentioned on your cover note as an option to set it aside from a standard car, then it ain\'t covered

only reason I mention it is that I heard of someone recently who has been truly fecked over on this one with them

I know its the old "oh well I can take it off if anything happens" but try replacing shocks on a fooked front end etc!!

Im gonna have to dif my cover out now, you got me worried!!!!
