interloper 393, what do you use under the fiberglass to stop it going onto the thing you are using as a mold?it looked like clingfilm but i though that would melt from the heat generated from the fiberglass?cheers rob

Is there no end to the mans talents? Not that I\'m feeling jealous or inadequate whenever I read this thread, lol...

How did you bring the lip up on those wheels, dude? Do you just grind it back and polish, or build it up with weld or something? And was there a gasket between the two parts of the rim, or are the bolts just done up really tight and the air stays in by a mixture of luck and magic? I need to do my spare set of split-rims, but they\'re only scabby winter wheels, so I don\'t wanna pay a refurbisher a fortune (done that with my decent wheels and got ripped off to the tune of £800 only for the lacquer to go through).

For £30 a pop it\'d almost be worth driving them up to Scotland meself and begging for you to do \'em!

yip just lots of masking tape and a few layers of clingfilm just to stop any over drips, ideal stuff to use is tin foil, you cn then dab it with a brush and get the exact shape.. :)

I just sand back the scuffs with 80 grit disc, then work up to 240, wet n dry with 400 by hand, then use a bench grinder with a 10" polishing kit wheel (theres 3 in the kit)

I use the force dude :D lol there just bolted but there sealed with a jelly glue stuff, just a matter of some black sealent when re-assembling um.

what size wheels and rubbers are yours mate? i know 18 + 17 but whats the width i want my tyres to sit how yours are! (would rather have wheels like yours to but have not got ££ for new one\'s)

interloper393

in the pic there 245-40-18 rear and 215-40-17 fronts, got a set of 255`s now for the rears just for some extra grip lol

Cheers for the tips, dude. I\'ll just pluck up the courage to have a go myself, seeing you and D22BA\'s refurbed wheel threads has shamed me into it! Much as I\'d love to come up and beg, I need the degradation and abuse lol!

interloper393

well all the interior bits have been primed n sanded 3 times and are perfectly smooth.. :)
heres a pic with the first colour coat, im going to colour sand betwwen clear coats and add abot 3 layers so its well protected ..
Also doing the same to the wheel centers cus there a pig to split n dont fancy doing it again lol..

Im redoing the engine covers using a better approach lol, few bodywork touchups to do and im done.. time for driving!!

i did my interior panels over winter but in a satin black finish, got told not to spray the dome as it will reflect into the windscreen.

if i was you i would just trial fit it and see if it does.

looking good btw :D
