Just got myself a nice hks t04r turbo kit from Davehg :D

probably not gonna get it fitted for a few weeks at least so just have it sitting here, any recommendations on stuff i can do to it before it goes on.  I was thinking of having the downpipe heat wrapped but dave said not too bother as the downpipe was wrapped before and twice cracked and had to be welded up, then he took of the heat wrap and was fine since.

Congrats! Gonna have to get that fitted quick smart then! :D

Don\'t take as long as I have in getting my engine installed! Almost 3 months since it blew up!!

chrisJDM

o dear thats no good mate, is it all done now??

im going to change the clutch in mine at the same time, luckily my parents have a double garage so daves gonna come down and we are gonna take the engine out, change the clutch and also fit the turbo, should be fun, my mechanic skills currently consist of changing oil and spark plugs :p

What spec is the engine this will go on, and what mods do you already have ?  Also what is included in the kit ?

You probably already know that you need to think about fueling, ecu, boost control, intercooler, engine cooling...

chrisJDM

heres a list i wrote a while back

Rebuild and Street Ported Engine
Apexi Power FC and Commander
GReddy Induction Kit
Bailey Venturi Dump Valve
GReddy Profec B Boost Controller
GReddy Front Mounted Intercooler with hard pipes

Have a look on the turbo, should be stamped on the cast rear side.

Lum

Good work mate!
You\'ll be running an almost identical spec to me once it\'s all in mate, have to get greg on the case with the mapping!
Then we\'ll see how T04R performs against T04Z!

chrisJDM

yep we will, i guess you never got a chance to go up against dave with your t04z.

Will have to all go to rolling road day

strange_days_uk

That all looks sweet, you are gonna be wearing one big old smile buddy, good luck to you !!  Let us know how the first drive goes !!

chrisJDM

im sure its going to be very fun, ive not really been in that many very quick cars before, apart from Gregs FD and that is a very very fast car :)

the fastest car i have ever driven is my FD by far :3gears-rh

chrisJDM

ive had a look on the turbo and there is a plate with the following info stamped on it.

Model: T04R
P/N: 17200-154100
S/N: BF 7022J
GTI P/N: 465981-0008

where does it usually say about the housing size??

nikp

I\'ve only just realised: you\'re in Shepton Mallet - we travel through there when going to see my parents!
