Hi guys

I\'m looking to get an RX7 in the near future, and I could use some advice regarding a potential purchase. I\'ve got my eye on a Type RS. This one:

However, as its based in Edinburgh and I\'m based in Bedfordshire its a little bit far to travel to see in person, only to decide its not for me. Does anyone have any particular experience with said redhead?

Any advice would be much appreciated!:god

For a start, it\'s not 280bhp it\'s 250ish, The rebuild in japan means nothing unless you can get someone to read the japanese rebuild reciept and thirldy the RZ model was the most driver focused Rx7, not the RS. It looks a nice car though but i would get a specialist to check it over first. The nearest to edinburgh is WGT in northwich cheshire

How many "rebuilt in Japan" ads do you see? They dont rebuild them, they sell them to some gaijin at the auctions when they\'re up to the mileage, and then some unsuspecting punter in Blighty buys another timebomb...

Not that I speak from bitter experience or anything....

as been said/.  unless you`ve got an  invoice showing rebuild don`t believe . or buy it and expect it to pop
if i had 8 hour to cut down a tree. i`d spend 6 sharpening the axe

Cheers for clarifying a few things for me, not being particularly technically minded, it really is a minefield out there. Luckily, I stumbled accross this forum, really.

Going to be seeing a few hopefuls this weekend - taken friday off to get a head start. I\'m looking for a decent stock car, twin-turbo for about £5-6000 - something basic but looked after.

Cheers

This is a nice stock looking car. No rebuild but it\'s been checked by WGT. The engine should last ages, main thing that goes on these is the water seals. http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46254

Y\'know.. the more I read, the more inclined I am to buy low and budget towards a rebuild. Ta for the advice peeps.

Looks great but possibly a bit too powerful for me at the moment. This is my first Rex, and I don\'t want to stack it just yet!

the RS is still a good model. id say get him to send more pics.
if its mint condition, its worth going for it at 5k and budgeting for a rebuild. then if it does go pop u at least have a totally mint car with a motor that will give you loads of pleasure.

True, true.. One thing I\'ve learnt from all the threads I\'ve read, its probably best to budget for the worst. Now, if only I could get up to Edinburgh to see it in person. Better start checking those cheap flight websites..:Typing
