Does anybody know if there are any differences between the twin turbo packs used on Left and Right hand drive FDs, please?

Martiny

I doubt it  - I think its just the downpipe has a little recess in it for RHD, thats all.

No Difference between the turbos.... and yes the US downpipes don\'t have to clear the RHD steering column hence the flat spot.
I had a set of US Highflow Twin and the whole pack was a few inches longer which made it a pain to get engines in and out. Also the HKS downpipe fouled the rear compressor housing.
Mines Black and dirtier than Donatos. But hey, no-one asked for a good clean fight.

Bobster- i\'m intrigued by your comments about your turbo pack fouling the hks downpipe.. I\'ve just put my downpipe on and i\'m not convinced that it\'s 100% ok fitmentwise.

The high flow turbo\'s... how do you ID them? The set i\'ve got aren\'t the originals from the car but look physically the same, i\'m just not convinced that the downpipe once bolted up isn\'t catching on either compressor housing (difficult to get in to see it), or where the primary turbo casting meets the main core between the two.

Symptoms that make me think something is wrong is a strong exhaust gas smell in the engine bay and a slight (and I do mean very, very slight) ticking noise, although I thought maybe that might be just down to the hks downpipe being very different to the standard one.

It sounds like you\'ve got an exhaust leak Cleggy.

When you say a slight ticking noise, do you mean kinda like a playing card stuck in the spokes of a bicycle wheel? Does the noise increase and decrease in speed with engine revs? If I had to guess (based off it happening to me) then I would say you\'ve walked a stud/bolt loose and that ticking sound is your gasket flapping as the exhaust leaks past.

Get your car in the air and check all the bolts holding your DP to the twins, and the twins to your Manifold.

I *think* there is a very slight difference between the USDM HT12\'s and other models. However the difference would be nothing serious, iirc it\'s just a slight change/add on for emissions or cold start regulations in the states.

They should directly replace each other w/o any problems.

Forgot to add the following:

- Turbo\'s recently off and swapped for a different set
- all new studs and nuts (OE ones) fitted
- all new gaskets from manifold to last joint in exhaust fitted (OE where applicable)
- Airpump removed, read a few posts that might suggest the blanking plates leaking but 99% certain they\'re all sealed properly.
- All nuts torqued correctly and paint marked, checked them the other day and they\'ve not moved.
- Can\'t feel any gas escaping when the engine is runnning and having a good feel around (till it gets too hot)
- Noise tends to disppear/get drowned out when revving while stationary
