Well cars due to get maped soon, running a non-seq setup with a greddy rad and fmic, think on the standard injectors i cn run a safe .8bar of boost.. would it be worth while upgrading the injectors and fuel pump before the remap? what kinda safe boost could i run and power could i expect?

And is it worth doing on standard twins... makes it easyer to upgrade to a single later i suppose lol

:mmmm

hiya,

before i got my car mapped, i got all my mods that i was going to do done first, this meant only only one trip down south and only one mapping session, and considering cost of mapping and fuel, it was the cheaper way.

yeah i`d do the mods b4 it was getting maped but is it worth the extra money swopping the injectors and pump the now? will it give me much of an increase in power?

I guess it depends on whether you are mapping the car for the new injectors. Wouldnt recommend doing that until it is being mapped. Unless you are trailoring it there ? Most tuners dont charge a fortune for fitting the injectors and pump.

Its a bit swings and Roundabouts, From experiance big mods need to be done before a Big map session, smaller mods can be tweeked at a later date and often don\'t cost any thing like as much to do.

But its often better to be safe than sorry (get it all done in one hit) especially if there is distance involved.

ok.. but will the mods im speaking off give me any more power or worth it? i mean would bigger injectors and a uprated fuel pump be worth the extra, and would it give me any more power on the standard tubbys?

Ok this is how it works usaly, e.g. On a std car you can fit a PFC and raise the boost but you hit a wall when the Fuel system runs out of Duty, this can be got round by fitting a bigger fuel system but in its self you need to remap as you will be using bigger injectors and flowing more fuel. But More fuel means you can run more boost so that means more power :) but then the cycle starts (more fuel + more power + bigger turbo + more Power + more fuel + more Boost)

The fuel system is basically the key to more power, if you get a good guy tuning it there can be quite large increases in power just by tweeking fuel and Timing. So yes Its importand to have the fuel system tip top when its set up as this alone could help you get good power gains.

Its possible to fit a bigger fuel system and get less power if you don\'t have a good map. I think the fuel system is the most important part of an FD (from experiance of blowing them up :()

Think the max boost you can run is about .87 pos .9 bar on the std fuel system, but then you are treading on thin ice!! Mine is set at 0.9 on the sequentials at the mo, not that I can use it of course due to my 5k rpm issues :( but sertainly wouldn\'t want to run any more boost than that... What I\'m going to do is graft in some extra injectors in to the UIM & link them in to the secondry injectors so I get 4 injectors kicking in for the secondries rather than the usual 2, also doing it this way means you will get better atomisation of the fuel as you are feeding 4 smaller injectors rather than flooding loads of fuel through a big nozzel for the same period of time ;)

haha i wudldnt expect u to go the easy route bud hehe..

Cheers for the input, no doubt the mapper will hav these`s handy so see what he says.. i know the tubby limits are .9 1bar max but they wont last long..
ok cheers :D

On the stock system, its really easy to run 1 bar (fuel reg and up the rail pressure) but there is knock on effects (you find the Fuel pump is made to run a Std FD) so the pump id next on the list.

Every one seems to be going for the 850\'s in Primarys mod at the mod, i\'ve never done this but with the right pump and reg it can be very effective (and cheap)

I don\'t want to question you logic, but why? will it give you better MPG or something? I have 550\'s and 1600\'s and i\'ve never had a problem with Atomization?? its all about Set up.

My experience on stock twins was the following:

Installed FMIC, boost controller, PFC, induction and bov.  Went to map at RE:Worx and maxxed the injectors at 6000 rpm at 0.8 bar (290 rwhp)

Had to then buy upgraded fuel pump and 850 primaries before going back and getting a full map to 1 bar.

So, I would suggest upgrading your fuel system now, save messing about later..

Yes it would give you more power.

Standard fuelling topped out (safely) at 0.8 bar on twins giving me 280rwhp so if that\'s all you want for now just get it mapped.

Uprated secondaries (so 850s all round) and a supra TT fuel pump will then run you all the way up to a small single turbo, on my twins it ran 0.9 bar at 300rwhp. Then added a Twin Spark as the ignition was faultering at the top end.

Added a v-mount and now it\'s running 0.9 bar at 319rwhp.

It all depends how fast you want to climb the ladder!

Ricco_04

Injectors and fuel pump on their own wont give you more power - just the potential for more ( ie raise boost )

I fitted the 850\'s in a machined primary rail, FPR, fuel pump, new cat back & new intercooler before my mapping session, tweeked the PFC and drove it there.  If your using a trailer then I wouldn\'t think twice about fitting the mods first :Thumbs-up
