:Santa Merry Christmas to everyone! :Santa

I\'ve had my 1993 FD for a few months now, an I am toying with the idea of selling and getting a later one.

I understand there were quite a few efficiency/performance alterations made to the 99spec onwards FDs.
But I\'ve not seen many about, does anyone know of one for sale?

ps. does anyone have experience of a later car? Are they that much different?

Thanks
Charlie

Timmy

98 models and newer will be a fair bit dearer due to sva test being required and model report, meaning that the car has to be standard when imported this all means they are not so common. Also will rapidly deprciate in value once it turn 2009. I hear performance is up mainly due to the mapping.

Kevin

There is no model report for the rx7.  Importing and registering one that is less than 10 years old is impossible.  If you want a 99~ you\'d be better looking at ones already in the UK.

The performance is uprated \'mainly\' due to different spec turbo\'s.  All depends on what you want?

If you want a shed load of power then stick with your 93, less hassle with emissions on MOT as your not required to have a cat.

How could it be impossible to import one if there\'s some in the country!?
I don\'t want anymore power really, just after a better all round car, as thinking that 14years is getting on a bit. I\'m guessing the interior would have been improved over the earlier cars too

I dont think there is much difference interior wise tbh, same layout etc From previous experince you will struggle to pass MOT if you carry out any performance mods because of increased emmision regs on newer cars, that is one of the reasons why Mazda stopped selling the RX7 in the country! I had a 96 which was pretty much standard, i think getting it through emissions was one of the most painfull experiences i have ever done.

The government saw it fit to implement the model report in 2004; as the felt people were getting too much of a good deal grey importing from outside the UK.  Put many of us importers out of business, as Labour doesnt like free enterprise.  Obviously RX7\'s imported before 2004 (April) where able to be registered, with just an SVA test and MOT.

Interior plastics are slightly better but nothing to write home about.  If your happy with your current car, you know it\'s history and know it\'s straight then i\'d spend the price difference on some 99 spec parts, single turbo and a private plate if your concerned about the car looking it\'s age.

i have a 99 and have never had any probs with mot as my local station dosent have anything other than 1995 on there mot database so it gets tested as a 1995.
i will be selling mine soon but dont know how much for yet:xconfused
i am only waiting as i have sat in my garage the apexi pfc to go on along with a feed style front bumper, decat silenced mid pipe and fmic as well as in the middle of fitting re-a sleek lights with air duct on one side.
car has  one off leather retrim front and rear with some other after market bits fitted.
car has genuine 18000 miles on it so is very clean.
it has had three resprays as i couldnt make my mind up on what colour i liked:spank
last respray was 6 months ago but still needs a good bit of flatting and polishing.
i am also waiting for a re-a hood 2b delivered as seen in the groupbuy arranged by m4drx.

Hi Nick...love the interior...shame about the front bumper :S still that can be changed...although you smoothed it didnt you?

Well I\'m fairly sure I want a later one, my rex is standard except for the back box, its a type X in very good condition, rebuild 6k ago by rotechnics, and only 59k miles overall, only some slight paint fade (red cars!:reallymad ) I\'m hoping its worth around £5500!?

How much you talking for your 99spec?

I just missed out on the blue one which was on here for £10K :(

no the side skirts were smoothed and front bumper left alone which is why i have a feed style 2 bumper waiting to be fitted and sprayed.i have spent over 2k on it in the last three months trouble is i dont really know what it is worth as have had various suggestions varying from 9k because of the front bumper to miguel at newera expecting it to fetch around 14-15k but i would probably b looking for around 11k with all the bits i have bought going with it or 10k as is pm me and let me know what u think.

How come you\'ve got the early spec rear lights on it?
