Sanity check my thought process please.

Hey Guys, i know *twitch* im long over due my shots  

Im wanting to run this buy you guys to make sure im not replacing this for the sake of it! (cat) Also for sanitys sake the car fires up first time and while hot, no low coolant buzzer so id safly rule out engine internals.

Car has been doing a few funny things lately:

Started last week while i was queing in heavy trafic on the 621 lots of stop start, anway got the cat heat light on a few times and a smell from under the car, thinking cat.

Now i seem to be getting lower boost than i usualy would do on primary and secondry, it also seems to become more apparent when the engine is warmer than colder!

And now somtimes it randomly boggs down while on idle, (somtimes it tries to stall but hasnt done yet) Can push the pedeal down while its in this mood and it wont rev any higher (not limpmode) Just  coughs and sputters and makes 0.0 on the boost gauge for a second then breaks free and freely revs again.


Does all this sound like the cat? :WaveBye

I\'ve got similar problems, thought it was the cat myself ... anyway buying one on thu, will fit it and see if anything gets solved & let you know too  :Thumbs-up

Sounds like the cat is mullered.

This happened to mine, very similar symptoms.  Get a decat pipe..

A buggered cat can make those symphoms, it will lower boost.
Also a faulty water sensor, the one that tells the ecu that the car has warmed up can create coughing and spluttering once warmed up, it will also reduce boost.

Cheers Guys!  i\'ll double check the error codes when i go out tonight for some reason i carry a LED and Wire to ground the diags in the car :rolleyes:

But i do think it will be the cat :Thumbs-up
