Heya all :)
I\'m off to look at a rather nice looking FD later on, however, it\'s a single tubby - i thought i\'d just got my head around the whole twin thing, then this came up!
The thing that is concerning me is that the tubby is quoted as being \'a T4 Turbo with a T6 housing\'
Having spokent oa  friend he was very confused by this - anyone shed any light? I\'ll have a scan of the receipts later today to try to ascertain exactly what unit it is.
What does concern me is that it\'s quote as having an XS power FMIC - now I know that, to be honest, a lot of these cores are pretty much the same as each other, but i\'ma  bit concerned that the tubby is from the same stable. I come from a 200sx background, and let\'s just say that the manufacturer doesn\'t have the greatest name in those circles!

Anything else to look out for regarding the single tubby conversion?
the listing doesn\'t specifiy boost control method, but it\'s running a PFC - i do, however, handily have an AVCR beside me that could always be employed ;) :D
Cheers all for your time, and if anyone know the car I\'m talking about, could i ask you don\'t link to it until i\'ve seen it and had a chance to get in there first?! :D

Single tub fd\'s are much more fun, and prob more reliable as less to go wrong.

Make sure you check for the following:

turbo spec
external wastegate
fuel pressure regulater (rising rate hopefuly)
Uprated fueling ie bigger injectors and bigger fuel pump
mappable ecu is essential
boost controller
xs power fmic is prob ok, some people on here are using them.  I personally wouldn\'t want one of their turbo\'s though

good luck, try and see a recent compression test also !!

SiH

Thank you muchly :)
There is a compression test from about 2 months ago (quote as an average of 7.6 on the front rotor, 7,8 on the rear, which sounds pretty healthy?), when a fresh engine was fitted, although not a rebuilt one, it was purportedly a 25k Km one.
Those are my thoughts exactly on the XS power turbos and FMIC\'s!

It\'s got a PFC and commander so hopefully that\'s that covered.

For the fuelling it specifies \'850cc injectors\' - now, I\'m wondering if this means it\'s running 850\'s all round?

is a variable FRP essential for a large turbo, or are large injectors and a mappable ECU a better option?
Apologies for the n00b questions,b ut i\'m approaching from a rather different tuning ethos! :D

strange_days_uk

prob means 850 injectors all round which is sweet

fpr may not be essential, unless you have a huge pump.  I think some people get away with stock fpr on single tub.

Comp test results are very nice.

Well, it was an XS power turbo, and there were a few other bits on it i wasn\'t too fond of :(
the search continues :(
