I think its just the lacquer has come away from the carbon.  Although I do have another bit where it looks like it has been chopped off which I would also like to get done.

Is that any use?! :o

u cn just sandbck and re-laquar the cracked bit, no sure on the broken bit :S

Ah thats kinda cool then, cheers fella :cheers

Is there any professional shops that could maybe do the broken bit, well both for that matter?! :yes

Its very difficult to repair carbon fibre unless you don\'t mind painting instead of a lacquer coat. It needs to be sanded down, then a patch of carbon  overlayed on the broken part and then lacquered over. It is very very difficult to get the weave to match when doing this and almost impossible to get it so you can\'t spot the repair.

do a search, probably in archives, but someone on here repaired a bonnet, I believe he said by someone at Mclaren and it never looked good after.
Very hard to fix with out seeing a line or repair.

does anyone know who is good at applying CF too?

Jono FD3

there is only one way to repair carbon so you dont see it...... do the repair, then skin the whole item with a fresh layer of CF & then epoxy clear coat it!!
oterwise you will never hide the repair!!!

If ther is just a chip, then you can drop in some resin, slowly build it up & rub flat!

Ahhhhhh yes, I remember that thread but if it was done at McLaren and had that result I don\'t think I stand a better chance :(

Which as Barry says kinda confirms it :(

Just to check, is it a special resin or is it the same stuff used for fiberglass?

Jono FD3

Depwnds on the depth of the chip!! if you want it perfectly clear, then you would be better off using 2 pack laqure!!
