Quote from: antnicukwhat injector duty are you reaching at 3k rpm,   should only be about 26 - 30.  Bridges of any kind use loads of fuel.

I think a lot of your problem is the twin turbo pack, you will have huge back pressure which will make fuel economy worse, also, you say you disconnected the oil supply to one of the turbos,  that cant be good cos the impeller will still be forced to turn, you will have no oil cooling, the bearing has probably seized solid.  You are better off pulling the turbos, ripping all the gubbins out and putting the housings back and running N/A while you run it in.  That way your down pipe still fits,  Or IIRC, you can just blank of the turbos and remove them, but still attach your down pipe to the centre section.

hi mate, yeah at 3k rpm its reading 25-30 for the inj duty, at idle its 18.1!
Does this sound right for the amount of fuel its using?

As for the turbo rip, shall i put a filter on the elbow pipe or still connect it to the intercooler?

Quote from: antnicukno, but cold plugs and lots of fuel would be,  get a set of 7 and 9 plugs in there if you havent already and it should be ok.  Are the plugs in it the ones that you put in it after it was first started when rebuilt?, if so bin em,  you should always use old plugs on a new engine until its been warmed up for the 1st time then throw them and put new ones, all the gunk in the engine after rebuild clogs the plugs.    if its rich, low numbered (hotter) plugs will help it start easier.

so is that 7 in primaries and 9 in secondaries.

cheers for the help mate. :Thumbs-up

antnicuk

just stick an air filter anywhere you can attach it. Close to the throttle body the better

18 sounds high on idle

just use stock plugs in the stock places.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

So are the stock plugs 7 in primaries and 9 in secondaries?

i think at the moment there either 9 or 10 in all of them?
Im going to be buyin some new plugs tomorrow.

ttpower

just to note as well, theres is alot of fumes coming out of it as well, they stink the whole place out! Is that normal or is that cause of the base map, crap plugs and back pressure?

I guess the base map is mega rich then - running very large but non-bridge ports and a richish map sees mine ~8% from memory.

8%, id love to have that figure, what does yours idle at, mine is at 1600rpm. I thought it might of been my fuel but i guess i was wrong as i just ended up pushing my into my work lol! not what you want on a friday morining, but least i know now its dry in the petrol tank and that the fuel guage is working!

I think you mean Trailing and Leading.

7s go in the Leading, 9s in the trailing.

High fuel consumption, rough idling, high idling, fumes..... these are all the result of the bridgeport. Was no research done into this before the porting was done?

ttpower

yeah i expected it, but not this bad thats all.

Thanks for the info.

Martiny

Ok even £1 per mile sounds really really bad, even for a bridgeport.

B ut have you measured it properly?

-- Fill up,   drive a while, fill up and take note of the mileage, and the exact amount you have put in. Judging by fuel gauge alone is VERY inaccurate.

AtomicRex

Welcome to my world!

Mine is 1L per mile....so at current prices £1.03

Next year we are going to be running 108 Octane.....so that will be £2.60 per mile :o

arrouk

OMG! but dont you run HUGE bridge ports?

matt

AtomicRex

No...Not at all, we run some aggressive porting, but not even half bridge.

On running it in, I was achieving just less than 15mpg, but that was sticking to below 4000rpm.  Once you get out into the race, you can hear the engine getting hiccups it\'s drinking it that quick! ;)

ttpower

lol, hiccups! these cars have some personality lol! cheers for the help martin, goin to be swapping my exhaust for a dolphin tail one so that should hopefully reduce the noise. Just thinkin, if the fumes are so bad wouldn\'t that effect bridgeports from gettin an mot.

Carl

It should be possible to lean out the fueling on the bridge for idle.
The reason they run rich is that on idle less air get\'s into the engine due to the amount of exhaust gas that also gets in because of the amount of overlap between exhaust and inlet ports.
