Am thinking of running two sets of wheels / tyres, some for the summer and some for the winter, I have a good set of standard wheels with good rubber that I am keeping for the winter and am thinking of getting the other set of standards tarted up in black and putting on some road legal semi slicks.

Was Wondering is anyone else has ran on semi slicks and if so what make, model, size e.c.t did they go for.:3gears-lh

Cheers.

Semi-slicks have been discussed v. recently...

Size-wise, if you\'re using the stock wheels then presumably you know the tyre size, I\'m running aftermarket so mine are 225/45x17 (8") front and 255/40x17 (9") rear.

I\'ve always had semi-slicks on mine (Yoko\'s). They are great, although I just found out from that thread that I\'ve been running the pressure too high, now they are even greater at the right pressure lol!
They can be pretty hairy in the rain. I don\'t use the car in the rain at all normally (bought a daily drive just for that), but got caught out tonight and had some interesting sideways action :)

I\'ve run 888\'s or D01J\'s for 25,000+ miles on FDs I reckon, could be a lot more tbh; I\'ve used one FD or another as a daily driver for the better part of the last 6 years, averaging probably 10-15K a year, come rain or shine. I personally wouldnt ever go back to a \'proper\' road tyre but thats not for everyone, I get a lot of enjoyment from driving and I really enjoy driving on 888s to the point that its a compromise that I\'m more than willing to live with (makes getting up our steep drive a tad tricky in snow tho!). I find they wear very reasonably although some people suggest they will be dead in a couple of thousand miles. My current set are on their last legs but have again lasted well - they\'ve seen a fair amount of burn out/donut action too (and have the cuts in them to prove it :-/). They are dodgy in really heavy rain - but tbh its not hard to crash an FD in the rain if you dont show some respect :)

I dont like Semi Slicks,

They are fantastic in the mountains. No one can come close, but.

No fun at all. I borrowed Miguels Direzza\'s and they just tram line too much and take a lot of the fun out for me.

I like a bit of sideways action. :)

Depends what your desire is.

I run 255/40/17 R888 all round on my FD, does the same. But I like the way they work though, more confidence driving it with those one, doesnt like the rain but I dont use the car much.

I also have an every day car, the rex only comes out when the weather is nice.:)

It seems to be that the R888\'s are the way to go. Is anyone running these on standard wheels if so where is the best place to get them from.

Cheers.

Only used Direzza\'s once and didnt get on with them, used 888s since. Any thing wide will tram line I guess, geometry should help that.

Oh, and 888s dont stop you going sideways if you want, make no mistake!
