Ok...

After speaking to another member he said he was having real issues with doing the whole push pull thing with screwdrivers to disengage the clutch.

He said it was alot easier to turn the flywheel and undo one bolt at a time etc. (how would you go about doing this?)

My question is, if this is done, how do you go about putting it all back together? Or would you simply disengage it and reconnect it to the flywheel etc? Then put the engine back onto the gearbox?

Anything I should be looking out for when doing any of this, or anything to make it easier?

cheers,

Jim

Had a quick go today trying to disengage it with two long screw drivers, but no success. Any hinters, or should I just keep on trying?

Also noticed the clutch pedal is fully depressed to the floor now. Is this because I\'ve disconnected the hydraulic line?

through the inspection cover at the botom of the gearbox undo the 6 x 14mm bolts that bolt the clutch to the flywheel. The engine then comes out leaving the clutch cover on the spline. (make a note of which way the friction plate faces, it only goes back one way)

To put the engine back you can inspect the clutch, leave it all on the gearbox spline and do the 6 bolts back up through the inspection panel. or you pop the little silver ring that is clipped to the centre of the clutch cover, remove the clutch, use an alignment tool and bolt the clutch to the new engine while its out then one the engines back in and mated to the gearbox you use a big screw driver or pry bar to push the clutch release bearing into the centre of the clutch and the ring will clip and hold it in

Its a bit more tricky so if you havent done it before and your clutch is being re used, leave it on the spline and bolt it to the f/y through the inspection hole, fiddly but can be done and once its on you know its right
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Ah right. Cheers.

So I\'ll just get it off by doing the bolts, then put it back on the same way.

Thanks for the info mate... that should speed things up a bit!

I take it it\'s fiddly yo put back on, because the flywheel has to be at a certain point to get bolted on. Ie, turned to the correct location?

Jim, the outer rim of the flywheel has locating lugs on it, I would personally use some tippex and mark on the flywheel and clutch housing, some marks that you could then write numbers on (when the tippex is dry:-) then remove the engine.

Put both engines side by side, rotate the crank to the same position on both, mark on the new engine (one to go in) with the same numbers, then when it comes to refit, you can be sure of the correct orientation, but I guess on closer scrutiny, the flywheel and clutch housing will only go on one way....

Good luck!

Here\'s a good little video that explains how the clutch release works...

Good idea. I could just mark up where th elugs are on the housing. Then turn the new engine to the same points. As long as the flywheel doesn\'t get turned on removal somehow, all should be fine?

If I do manage to get it dissengaged with the push pull method and screw drivers. What\'s the story on putting it back together? Just slot the engine back onto the gearbox? Is it that easy?

thanks in advance
