Just been calling around for quotes to get a TII insured, and NOT ONE company will quote me so far!  I\'ve been driving Rx7\'s for 5 years and had less trouble getting a quote when I was 21! :Grrr   According to one company I asked \'there\'s been a big shake up and all the companies are tightening up on the age ranges\'

So, is this the end of any driver under 28 or 30 (depending on who you speak to) being able to insure an Rx7?  I could always be a named driver on someone elses policy, but right now I\'m feeling utterly, utterly shafted.

I f&&king hate insurance companies - they will do a better job of driving me off the roads than any amount of poxy government \'green\' iniatives.

really?????

I take it it\'s garaged, 2nd car etc etc?

If so try Sky or even AON gave me a good quote on a classic policy

AON told me before that if I was under 30 to forget it :(
Its a 5th car! ;)
I don\'t trust Sky either - some of thier working practises are a little worrying...

That\'ll teach you to be young :)

It\'s a bugger but it gets a lot cheaper once you hit 35 ;)

Why\'s that? I know John (88GTR) has his with Sky and he\'s always been very complementary of them.

I\'d forgotten you were a young-un Brett ;) A couple of years back I had mine insured with Basildon Insurance Services Ltd (Tel: 01268 527722) - I had the Scooby and the FC insured with them for £1250 for both - insured parked on the drive, no garage at the time - both limited to 10k miles neither on classic policies

Sky gave me a good quote for mine for all mods included.  Just need to get a cert for the alarm. :driving

I spoke to the club contact at AON last week and got a speculative quote of just under £500 fully comp for a mildly modded FD, ~300bhp, ~£7k value, 5k miles/yr, 2nd car, garaged in RG1 postcode. I\'m 28...

Fingers crossed,

Chris.

Ok - heres the list of companies I\'ve tried so far:-

AON - The car must be garaged, so thats a no.
Hyperformance - Wont be able to get a quote below £1500, another no.
Houghtons - Must be over 30.
Norton - Must be over 28.
Chris Knott - Must be over 30.
4 Counties - Must be over 30.
Admiral - Do not cover modified cars.
Swinton - Want over £1500, so no way.

I\'ve emailed several others and I\'m waiting for replies.

maybe they just know about you ... ? :rollin

Give HIC (herts insurance) a go, they were good for mine, even with living in a dodgy area, and also include free trackday cover, should you ever want that.

All mods declared (single turbo etc) on an import, including unlimited trackday cover but (i think) 6000 miles limit and parked in unsecured residents car park in se18 was under £800, from memory i think about £770ish. significantly cheaper than others without trackday cover.

I\'ve just been quoted £432, with agreed value, all mods declared (FMIC, ECU etc) Very cool company :D

try noel dazley, you shouldnt be having half the problems you are being 26! im 22 and got an FD insured reasonable. They are on the isnurance contact list. But that sounds a nice quote you got anyway, also mention your a Rotory club member, I know we dont have a deal with them but the guy i talked to was very friendly! :) and mentioned they would love to get us throwing more coustom through them, It actualy got to the point where the guys at Sky insurance (despite having a deal with the MR2OC), told me they couldnt beat their quote and to go with them :Laugh
I woof in your general direction.
