Folks,

First post on here so be nice...

Like many I am researching buying a Series 3 (FD).

However I notice some have rear seats and some have storage bins.  Was there an option to remove the seats?  Part of the "lightening" process of the Type R etc?

Thanks in advance :)

Don\'t exactly know if they bins or the seats were an option but as I\'ve got a set of bins cluttering up the garage and just had the rear seat out, I can confirm that the bins aren\'t much lighter than the seats if at all. They\'re just a tad more practical.

It all depended on what model it is.

philiwily

think all UK cars had bins and Japan cars had seats as in Japan they pay extra tax on 2 seater cars but could be wrong.

Fish

Some Jap models came with bins.

Thanks for the replies folks.

Ill just bare it in mind when looking at prospective cars.

Can I ask though, with seeing some rear seats available online, is it possible to fit the seats over the storage bins?

Fish

No you\'d need to remove the bins to fit the seats.

AFAIK it was only the R2\'s from Japan that had bins, all the rest had seats in the back.

I ended up putting seats in the back of mine as in emergency situations (like going to the pub, fast!) you can still wedge someone in the back ;)
