Nah I aint got the car yet [getting quotes for one I seen for sale], though if I did, it has to be a 99+ RX.

BUG4LIFE

Elephant - £1200!!!

Keep forgetting to mention the classic car option [if they could do that with a late Rex]?

Admiral are winning at the moment!

Hi mate, Sorry about lifesure... Didn\'t know they had an age limit. I think the only issue for the Classic car policy will be if it isn\'t garaged and your only car. I had a Triumph Spitfire (awful car by the way) when I was a few years younger than you and I had to have it garaged on my Classic policy, although it was my only car! Guess the rules have changed somewhat!
Good luck with the search. Is the car modded at all?

Bloody insurance companies - just wanted to check that Admiral quote; seems the guy put in that the 01 RX7 was a single turbo [I explained that all FD RX\'s are twin turbo, unless modified], so the £691 is really for an older RX7. Why his computer gave him the choice of single turbo when he typed in 2001 I don\'t no - I said it was stock?

Looks like if I want a late Rex, I\'m gonna have to stump up a grand, and near that again next year. Why is insurance such an arse!!!

BUG4LIFE

Look further up this thread Barry, I already tried Aon [£1288]. How on earth did you get it for £410 - you got a garage? What year is your FD?

Just a thought

You seem pretty set on a 2001 model. Obviously there is a reason. I just got my renewal through the post from admiral, £296 fully comp, agreed value with £350 xs.

My point is not to rub your face in it. My car is a UK spec car. Have you considered searching for one. I know they are rare and many people argue not good nick. Maybe worth a look. There was a real nice one on FDUK recently and no it\'s not mine

BUG4LIFE

The reason I\'m getting a quote for a 2001 Rex is cos I\'ve seen one for sale really near me, with only 10,000 miles on the clock. I wasn\'t looking for a new car [as I\'m still buting stuff for my house I only bought 8 months ago] but I know how rare late RX7\'s are over here, and with only 10k miles - don\'t know if I could let an opportunity like this slip me by without at least trying to see if I can have it!

I found it very difficult to find anywhere that would insure on late FD\'s. Just from my experience, most of these places just don\'t seem to know about late model FDs. You seem to have been in touch with most of the places I have looked at over the past few years. Just a word of warning - with people like admiral, you need to be careful that they don\'t cock up the insurance. I had 2 years of quotes (although no policy) with admiral, then last year the person I spoke to said they don\'t insure late RX7s because they are not on their system - I did question him why had they given me a quote for the past 2 years then, he basically just said they couldn\'t have - implying I was making it up!! For your info, I\'m 39, a reasonably rural location, garaged, 2nd car, stock, me + the wife - and we\'re insured for just over 600 through A-Plan on a late FD.
