coolant warning light!

Just knocked off the little wire that comes from the warning light, so it is on at the moment (plenty of water in the system)
Will this put the car into "limp-home" mode, as my car seems to be misfiring! I have changed some pipes and placed the dump valve on the intake side.

Just want to check before I rip the pipes apart, again!  :xconfused
