Got to the bottom of why my engine popped \'i think\' inspection of the engine loom shows that both the sets of wires at the crank position sensors are frayed and showing bare wire so there touching:eek:   i presume these touching will put all the timing of the spark out? anyway im re-wiring the loom does anybody know if it matters which way round the wires go are they just ,one wire comes to the sensor then a signal is sent back on the other wire as to when to spark?

thanks for all the fed back ! !!! but ive sorted it myself stripped loom back to the plugs at the ecu and re-wired it following a wiring diagram-- time consuming but at least i know the wires are fresh and its not going to happen again \' worth looking at yours as the amount of heat and the age of  our cars the wire goes brittle!

does anybody know if it matters which way round the wires go on the crank position sensors as i had to lose the connectors there knackered and not sure if its just a signal sensor as in open shut??
