I just got my car done. took me 6 months ;) "yeah i know im slow" I changed my rotor house and one rotor. Now the question is .... how do i breake it in? 500km with no boost" ? And after 500km push it up to 4500? Anyone know the drill?!  Sorry my for my leet english :D:Hammer

When I got my car back from Pip, the rev limiter was sent to 4.5k rpm and boost was set to .5 bar.

I was overly cautious with warming the car up the first few time (and still am) and avoided boost as much as possible for the first 500miles.  For the second 500 miles, which are almost finished, I\'ve let it boost and have driven it as normally as possible - although I still avoid WOT and I make sure I always warm up and cool down thoroughly.

I’m sure lots of people will tell you different things – but as long as you don’t do anything stupid I’m sure it will go just fine!

When I was running in the engine in my FC last year, I initially kept it under 3krpm and then slowly went up to about 4k over time. Obviously I tried to avoid WOT and and boost, but I also made sure that I didn\'t run the engine at constant rpm and with varying loads - basically I staid off the motorway as much as possible for the first 1000 miles.

You must resist :p  For your engines sake!!

I did 1000 miles at varying RPMS and loads on the motorways. Change gears alot, even when you dont need to. TRy and keep it under 4000 revs and keep off boost.

I ran mine in gently (no more than 3000rpm and no boost) for 500 miles, then got it mapped! :eek :D

You mapped it just after 500 miles? Stock turbos and so on? How high boost and so on? :):burnout

nikp

Nope, single turbo! Street ported. :p

as most people have said, most uk specialists will say minmum of 1000 miles.  500miles below about 3-3500rpm, off boost,  the next 500miles, up to 4500rpm tops, with a little boost, no more than about 0.4bar.

you must vary the revs though, all the time.  no good sitting on a motorway, at 70mph, for a couple of hours.  must go up to 80, down to 60 etc, every few minutes etc
IF YOU DIDN\'T CARE YOU WOULDN\'T BE LOOKING

Don\'t you mean you must vary the revs ;)

lol, *EDITED*.

was think about saying "you must not sit at same revs for long peroid of time".
obviously i started writing it to.

cheers, that could have been confusing advice

thanks mates!i think i will start breaking it in now.... summer tires and snow

Totally different approach but...

What about abusing it...as the car is going to be abused for its lifetime???

I think when I had mine re-built I had to do the first 500 miles under 3500 revs then then next 500 under 4500 revs. Oil change then with every hundred miles after that increasing the revs by 100. Took FOREVER.
