Where abouts can you get these from, take it Mazda can sell you one?

What sort of wallet damage are we talking....

Im sure I saw a thread about this somewhere but I cant find it

Oh, for a 3rd gen, import if that makes any difference :)

Engine harness? I spoke to Clive about this: Mazda have to specially make these for you. Apparently there are about 12 different variations to them, and they won\'t take returns!! So get it right when you order. Oh, and about £450

ScuttleRX

Ah yes remember your post now, 12 variations, thats a large margin of error...!
Whats the differences, just things like autos, cruise control, stuff like that?

nikp

To be honest, I don\'t know. I\'m only passing on info that Clive told me. Wish i had the money for a new wiring loom, as mines shot!! :eek

I suspect there\'s differences between american and jap/english ones for starters.

andysmee

Yep, the American ones were back-to-front (LHD!), there\'s a difference between auto and manual, and then there were revisions in 1992, 1993, 1994-1996 etc.

I\'m guessing your chassis number should be what they need but I wouldn\'t count on it.

We sold an engine harness quite recently to a guy who was having a rebuild and did not want to risk his nice new engine with an old loom but it was an absolute nightmare to source, but we got there in the end:Thumbs-up .

Problem is with something like 17 different FD models apparently there are nearly as many different wiring looms and they come back as different prices as well.

The Mazda factory will not supply unless you are able to supply them with lots of info about the car, then the factory makes them up as a special non returnable order.

Because of the money involved we spent lots of time sourcing this knowing that if it was wrong we would never know what model it would fit, it could well be that lots do actually work on different models but its a lot of money to blow if they don\'t.

If you have the number on the white tag on the loom it just may cross over however 99% have worn off.

We managed to sort the correct one by patently checking and crossing over numbers with the help of a Guy I know in the main Mazda parts dept out in Europe as nobody in the UK could be sure.

No problem with it being aggro though as it was a very worthwhile exercise especially if as it protected to guys nice new engines as I have know 2 guys who have lost multiple engines before it was discovered the the blow up\'s were caused by old shorting out engine looms :eek

Hello

It was me that Clive sourced the Engine Wiring harness for.  The harness will actually be for sale soon - not because it was wrong but in my inifinte wisdom I\'m no longer going to be running an APEXi PFC and the harness will be redudant once the Motec goes on :)

Anyway Clive did a sterling job of sorting it out and was very quick!

I\'d definately say it was worth every penny, there\'s no point risking your new rebuild for the sake of a wiring harness, yes it\'s expensive but not as expensive as a rebuild!

All the best

Dave

Yes that what ive been thinking, gonna have oodles of time to do bits and pieces like this so thought it would be well worth doing, give the whole engine bay a refresh rather than just the engine.

Thanks for the pointers, Clive if you don\'t mind the aggro i\'ll probably get in touch a bit later down the line to see if we can order one :)
