Can someone with a 94 or later FD confirm that the front foglights can only come on when the headlights are on dipped beam?

I\'m trying to find out why my loom melted and the workshop manual I have is for a 94. On my 92 you can use the fogs when you have sidelights on, they aren\'t linked to the headlights.

Thanks

Guys and girls, I need your help!

The problem I have with the loom in my car was probably my fault after fitting xenons but the 1994 wiring diagram I have does not match my 1992 car.

I need to know if anyone has a 1992 wiring diagram.

On my car you can switch the fogs on independently of the pop-up headlights. The 1994 wiring diagram suggests that you can\'t. So I can\'t tell whether my headlights are still likely to burnt out the loom (again) or whether the problem was a combination of the stock fog lights and xenon headlights.

Please help if you can.

Right, I have fixed my loom up and added an extra relay to run my Xenons safely. For future reference I have marked up a copy of the 1994 body electrical retractable headlight / fog lights wiring diagram. The two red boxes represent corrections to the fog lights wiring diagram, although I haven\'t got a problem with those lights so I haven\'t traced through the real wiring. The stuff in blue is the extra wiring I have added to safely run Xenons or high power lighting on the dipped beam.

For future reference, the 1992 wiring diagram is impossible to find (please prove me wrong).

I am now convinced that the Mazda wiring on the early FD\'s is not suitable for over rated headlights, or even like-for-like replacement Xenon kits as the peak load is enough to burn out the loom. BEWARE!

The stock fog wiring is OK and I am running Xenons quite happily.

The relay I used was an off the shelf Halfords one and the cabling was all overrated (17A to the relay, 8A from the relay to each lamp)

EDIT: Oops, the diagram I did isn\'t quite right for how I hooked up the extra relay but I can\'t be arsed to redo it. I took the signal feed for the extra relay from the signal side of the first relay, not the power output - same result though - the dipped beams will come on and stay on even when you switch to high beam.
