I need to remove the pilot bearing from the end of the eccentric shaft while the engine is still in!

I have had some tips from a few experts in the field, but i\'m still struggling.  Its all broken up and the just the outer sleeve is left....

Does any one have any secret methods or tips on how to get it out.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

i did think about trying a hilti type bolt but i think whats left in there is beyond coming out complete.  I think i will have to try and cut or grind it out but its made of some seriously hard stuff

Smallest chisel you can get hold of and go in between the shell and eccentric shaft once the shell pops inwards you\'ll be able to pull it out with long nose plyers will only take a couple of minutes to remove this way and no damage. If you can\'t get hold of a small chisel then a srewdriver with the shaft running all the way through the handle will do the same job.

But a dremel with a fine cutting piece, run a grove along the length of the sleve - then collapse using a small chisel/hammer.  Can be a BUGGER of a job! :)
Thanks,

That\'s what I told Tony on the phone ;)

Heat will work O/K with a welding torch and not damage the shaft.

Never had any luck Kevins way except for then having lots of dead chisels

Trick is not to try to chisel the bearing shell but get the chisel to run between the eccentric shaft and bearing shell once its popped inwards then its easy to remove. I\'ve i little 5mm chisel that i\'ve shaped to the profile of the bearing that does the job no probs.

Steel porting bits bud....:evillaugh :cool  destroy it and yank it out......eccentric shaft material is very hard.....:2eek  so dont be bothered about a mark or two as the outer shell of new bearing covers it !!!!!!!!:D :Typing
