I have a 1988 2nd Gen RX7 without turbo that I got off E-bay as a non runner
It had a misfire and I intended to take the engine out to either rebuild it or replace it. When I started to remove it, it was evident that the exhaust manifold had blown out and burnt the secondary injectors and fuel lines.
I replaced the damaged injectors, fuel lines and electrics and I have tried to set up the ignition timing. I have an American Haynes manual that states the "yellow mark on the eccentric shaft pulley is for the leading plug and the red mark is for the trailing plug" Is this right? I have never had an RX7 before but have always been interested in the engine and the idea behind it so I am learning fast. Does anybody have a better way of setting up the timing? I think I have all the leads in the right place, but the engine seems to hunt at low revs and I am reluctent to take it past 3500rpm untill I know it is right.
This model has the standard distrbutor not a Crank angle sensor as discribed in the haynes manual.
Thanks Nigeboi.
