After finding out today that the PFC doesn\'t have the de-flood feature I got to wondering are there any little tricks you can do with the Apexi

Mainly is there a short cut method to de flood the car without pulling the plugs or tow starting ect by changing settings on the commander

I heard some time back that you can change something to make the car shoot flames , was also told you can have it mapped to shoot flames when you hit full boost :flamed

Basically are there any fun things you can do without damaging the engine ???

This is how bored I get when I can\'t go for a spin :(

you can cut the fuelling down so it sounds like a tractor....

Im not entirely sure how useful this might be, also I can\'t guarantee it\'s not entirely safe either, basically, forget i mentioned it. :)

I think you can tune them to be more efficient at about 80mph, better mpg on the motorway then.

That could handy , I\'m guessing it won\'t be tuned for maximum power then though , however you could always change the settings if its not too hard and your carefull

Incidently if any of the tuners want to spill there secrets I certainly won\'t mind :Thumbsup!

you do know that the fans can be programmed to come in at a lower temp, don\'t you? although this has to be done through datalogit.

oh and if you it hit the buttons in the correct sequence it can turn your rex into a plane. and a boat. and a big transformer like robot. and a cat. but not a dog. or a hamster.

You can get the car to shoot more flames by putting extra fuel in the low load sites at high revs. This is the area used when you come off the throttle and the extra fuel won\'t combust but go into the exhaust. This is also a legitimate thing to do as some of it combusts in the turbo keeping it spooling between gear changes.

Shooting flames when you hit full boost sounds like a daft idea. Shooting flames when you come off full boost sounds a better plan!

Gonzonija - please tell me what the sequence is , please , please , please

Just been reading a page about PFC ( link to it on the DIY tuning thread in this section , skyline one) and there are some pics on there with the display and the buttons of the commander seperated , that reminded me of something I read about ages ago and would be usefull for an idea I had , any body got a commander that\'s knackered so I can pull it apart , don\'t want to break mine

To turn your RX7 into a plane on the Apexi screen when it starts up you have to press up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right then the two buttons at the same time.

You have to do it very quickly though!!!!:D

Yu can pull a commander apart and place it into one of your spare DIN slots, you can still buy the cases but you have to pull the commander apart, re-solder the wires yourself

RemarkLima

Where can you get those din panel from? That looks like a really nice idea!

You can buy them off ebay :)

I did think about doing this myself a while ago as I generally use the commander to monitor peak readings, aside from Intake & water temps - cant beat a \'proper\' boost guage to monitor.

Bad picture but this is what it looks like :

thats the soet of thing I ment , in the picture I saw the guy had mounted the screen on the steering column

I origionally wanted to make a holder in the center speaker hole so just the display was sticking out but after taking the grill out I realised there wasn\'t any room under it coz of all the ducting , using this method I could just mount the screen up there and have the buttons mounted else were , I was after a little insight into taking the commander apart and re soldering it , i.e. how easy ? how many wires ? ect

I may be mounting an AFR/EGT gauge there now though but it gives me more options this way

To be honest I find the commander screen not the best to look at - it suffers badly from bright daylight & sun glare - at night it is spot on.  I oftern find myself taking far too much time trying to glance at what my reading\'s are - so you really need it somewhere in your line of sight if you want to use it as your main tool.

If you are seperating the buttons then you could make your own pod for it and mount it as you say on the steering column etc.

As far as im aware you will need to remove all the wires and extend them (as much as you need)  I believe you will also have to chop the circuit board (there are no connecting circuits where you chop of course) in order to seperate top and bottom.

I hav not done this mod but I believe the above to ba accurate. :)
