heater and AC not working

HI I was wondering if anyone can advise on my problem please.

I am not able to control my fans or AC from the heater controls from inside the car.

It used to work and stopped a while back, I have tested all the relays and they switch fine the fuses are also ok.
If I try and turn AC on or just the fans without AC nothing lights up on the controls to say its pointing to the windows or what speed your trying to get the fans blowing at. as a matter a fact I get nothing at all. After a drive it has worked twice but after switching the car of it will not restart and its off a lot more than it works.
I am trying to get hold of a new set of dials/controls to try this out first but thought it may be something else someone has delt with in the past.

The fans do work when the ECU tells them to as the car is not over heating and the fans turn on at the correct temp.
