John Yorke

Quote from: Ada7I think there was a similar thread a while back that had the same kind of question.
IIRC John York was the \'winner\' and had spent some 50k on his slippery banana rx in 5 years!!

Adam
Fair comment Adam, think you will find those costs included all fuel, insurance + the cost of purchase which is now nearly six years ago and was a stonking £18K, so yes I have spent some £££\'s on my hobby but maybe not as much imagend in the modifications.
That \'report\' was intended to give an insight in owning one of these cars and keeping / improving it.

gonzoninja

I keep a running total on how much mine costs so including buying the FD (£6000), having a rebuild (£3000), servicing and insurance (not fuel!!!) and a few other bits I\'ve done I\'ve spent just over £17,000 in about 15 months.

Devil\'s Refugee

Car arrives off the boat from Japan on the 28th, barring any bad weather (or God forbid the bleedin\' boat sinking !)
Off to the Newera workshop for SVA and registration. Then the mods get fitted. With any luck, I\'ll be knocking up the motorways on the 2nd or 3rd week in September.
Really champin\' at the bit.
This is her as she is just now...

I know some people think it\'s mad not to have just bought a modded Rex from someone, but I\'ve got a thing about making something my own. When I saw the condition and mileage (grade 4.5 !!) just had to buy her :cool

It\'s certainly a shame it\'s not a runner but has potential to be one of the most unique rx\'s around Gary.

On mine, including purchase but not running costs, I\'ve spent ~£22k in the last 3 years.

That\'s taken it from standard and very tired (engine and suspension) to 387fwhp.  New turbo kit going on this weekend with all the goodies and mapping will take that to ~25k and ~450fwhp

Might get round to spending some money on cosmetics at some point @Giggle

FD3SNuttah

Owned my FD for 5 months now

7.5k for car
1K rims n tyres
£180 for coilovers (fitted by me)
£120 servicing (by me)
£6 boost gauge holder
£40 wheel alignment
£80 rear tyres (part worns for fun and to tide me over until my rims arrived)
£600 insurance
£320 in bodywork (touch ups)

£9846 -

on average do about 350 in fuel a month too - this car isnt a good decision (financially!) -

i still have to respray and buy a center vent and some 99 spec front lights a steering wheel to make this car 100% complete...  then im onto engine mods.

ok My FC project

700 quid for donor (engine donor)
300 quid for a bit of welding (wasted money as i abandoned that shell)
400 quid for cabrio chassis donor
200 picking cars up cost.
200 quid on various bits and bobs,
20 quid on 17" rims

= £1820

sold spares for £250 - but spent that on tools! i think i still need to spend a couple of hundred on it to get it on the road.
