About a month ago I bought a wicked looking RX 7. Its been a year since I owned a jap car as the skyline I had Blew after 4 days of ownership and I ended up losing 16k in the space of a year, I vowed never to own a jap car again but I missed turbo power too much and gave in.
The rx 7 is quite modified with big I/C, zost, PFC and intake already sorted the only thing that scares me is the way that the oil pressure gauge fluctuates. Majority of the time it runs, when warm, 4k rpm, at about the 6 mark on the standard gauge, which I know to be pretty good ( please bare with my terminology, very limited car knowledge) and at idle around the 3 mark. Just recently the needle will drop right down to zero for no apparent reason. tomorrow it is booked in for  a remap and I\'m hoping this will iron out any problems. The engine was rebuilt about 6k mile ago.
I know this is going to be a really stupid question but do they have an LSD as standard.
If anybody wants to give me a clue as to posting pictures of me car I\'ll sort it out.
Any response will be much appreciated.
Cheers Andy

The engine compression gauge on the FD is deffo not reliable, and i would almost go as far as to say ignore it, why ??? as the majority of them do the same tbh matey.

Wait a minute does your location say Derbyshire ??? where abouts are you buddy? i\'m in Stenson Fields south Derbyshire :Laugh

Also half the time the gauge gets stuck at zero other times it will flicker all over the shop, but just sometimes it will be at the right  spot :Hammer

We\'re in Alfreton. We were in your neck of the woods today as well sliding about all over the place. Do they still have those meetings once a month at the Bubble?

Hi Andy and a warm welcome to MRC and the Rotary world,

Lisa has got your mail but we really need to know what your picture posting problem is please, it could just be that the pics are too big ?

Your oil problem if you have one, could be as simple as a dirty connection on the terminal on the oil switch ( look under the oil filter) or an oil change needed, my Gen 2 used to tell me when the oil wanted changing as it used to fluctuate till it got some new oil and I did around 40K with that car with no other problems

The oil system on Rotarys is rarely a problem.

Yes all 3rd Gens have an LSD which as stock is probably the best diff money can buy as its a Torson Diff ( no plates just gears) without going to exotic Viscious Diffs

BTW the water and oil gauges on these cars are real pants !

Hope this helps
All the best Clive

Thanx for that Clive, thats cleared up  a few of my concerns. I\'ll probably have some more silly questions to ask soon.

Said it on MRC "no such thing as a stupid question"

just to re-iterate what has already been said. my oil pressure needle jumps up and down like a mo fo and doesnt give an accurate reading 60% of the time. likewise my rpm needle likes to flicker once in a while. just make sure the oil is topped up and you will be fine :)

Well I must say you\'ve all been very helpfull towards a complete stranger and thanks again for putting my mind at rest. I\'ll keep you informed as to how the remap goes.
