My experience of mechanics --

Since cars were invented from the Main dealer down to the back street garage from the Salesmen to the Mechanic they are your best mate and will bend over backwards to help you get your wallet out - until they have to spend time /money fixing something they cocked up at no cost to you.

take my advice fellow club members DONT trust ANY of them.

I truly hope no garage will ever deal with you again. If you go in with that attitude no wonder you get no help.

I speak for many honest and fair people I know in the trade, including our own garage in saying we try to do the best by people, BUT WE ARE NOT CHARITIES!

The twinpower only moves the miss slightly further up the rev range. You need to sort the root cause (alarm wiring) to make the problem go away.

I always recommend some form of ignition amplifier on an FD, but don\'t use it as a cure in this situation of ignition missfire.

Ok - digressing back to the original question ... it seems that it [B]may [/B]be the alarm at fault owing to inferior wire and i am sure that someone said this can be rectified / avoided by using an ignition amplifier yet richard has one of those - does this mean that the alarm can\'t have been the cause or does it mean that i have got completely the wrong end of the stick (quite likely!) and the twin power doesn\'t help avoid this?

you cannot have an unmoderated forum, as you have said the club has become a lot bigger and things put into print in the public domain AND read by a large number of people have the power to do a lot of damage to both the people and the business involved. That means that club has to act to protect the club, the individuals involved and the company.  If that means deleting a few posts then so be it ... its not a big deal ... where in the world does free speech really exist ? I can\'t think of anywhere you can print whatever you like with no consequences or censoring.

seriously this is meant to be F U N for the majority of us on this forum. The money making side of things just gets in the way IMHO and I would love to see MRC free of all trade adds paid up or not as it causes ALL the grief that makes this place not a nice place to be sometimes.

There are some great people in this club and a lot more outside of it (to state the obvious with a limited membership) and if it were not for these people I would not bother being a member.

There are far too many garages that have the attitude described here....ones that are happy to take your money but from the time you o back for a warranty claim or to have coorective work done FOC, they resort to palming you off with sorry excuses...

I had one garage cock one of my cars up..they plugged the distributor earth wire into the oil pressure sender and took out the ignition advance from the stock ECU...cost me over £300 to fix it and theydenied any wrong doing...
I drove the car into their workshop...hell i drove it on their ramps cos its quite low and i didnt want them destroying my splitter....the car didnt drive back off the ramps, it was pushed off....so thats what? my fault....the garage in question took no responsibility.

this type of activity is all too commonplace in the motor repair industry and your (ant) attack on what TIInuttah has said is misplaced. The motor repair industry as a whole should be seeking to improve its image by weeding out such garages.
If....god forbid if i have to take my car to a garage, i will treat them with distrust until i have the car back in my hands...i will watch them like hawks for all work they do on my car and i will insist on paying vat (most garages i go to still insist on no receipt no vat). I dont trust anyone to work on my cars...ill do it myself...even if it takes me weeks, months....id rther know it was done to my level of workmanship.
