Barbs on that list is much more realistic in the FW/wheel difference - 400/335 fly/wheel.  65 ponies.  50-60 would be a believable number.  Unlike the 4wd/auto boys who lose much more!

Bullsh*t stops when the flag drops.
The Fiat Coupe Turbo boys will be at TEN OF THE BEST this sunday.
Us the FDUK boys me,Robertio,Ant,Tim,and Ross will also be competing as well.
So we shall see proper timed runs in the Top speed,Quarter mile and Handling course then we can do some comparisons

This looks well worth attending....Shame I don\'t think I can make it though....:(
FD or not FD? that is the question.

If you take an accepted figue of 18% loss through transmission then 460 @fly becomes 377 at wheels. I guess the losses in a front wheel drive could be a little less than in a rear wheel drive though??? Still can\'t see it being over 380-390 at wheels.

No reason why that should be the case - still has a gearbox, diff and tyres (where a huge amount of the loss is)...  Maybe 18% (although this is debatable) in the rex but 17% min on a coop would be my guess.

The 18% rule seems to be accurate on the rex for stock-mid power cars but overestimates for higher power as one would expect as some of the loss is a static amount.  I seem to remember Carl putting forwards that he believed it to be more accurate to use 55bhp as the loss figure...

Quote from: royalIf you are genuinely interested why don\'t we arrange a time with the guys/girls in your club to do a meet at an airfield or something like that and do some times? It\'ll be a great day, everyone gets to meet fellow car enthusiasts, we can have a BBQ etc.

Brilliant idea - the problem with a lot of the Jap meets is that we never meet other non Jap cars - would be interesting to see the other parts of the world represented on the drag or track.  I favour the non contact events - where you go against the clock or on the drag - if I spoon my car on the track I\'m going to work on the train !! :2Rolleyes :(

Maybe we could go to or organise one of these 30-130 events :)

where did this 18% figure come from??

Quote from: RobbieRX-7where did this 18% figure come from??

I\'m guessing it\'s a ball-park numbe that generally works out.

Stock Rx with 265bhp manu figures generally give ~210-220rwhp.  18% is 217rwhp. So actual losses are 45-55bhp.  On a big power car the 18% will be much more power - 400fwhp would give 328rwhp thus a loss of 72bhp.

So in generaly 18% isn\'t too bad an estimate I guess.

Trappy

A very very general rule is 12-15% for cars with the engine over or very near the wheels. Front wheel drive and rear-engined, rear wheel drive cars. I.e. those without a prop shaft...

16-20% for Front engine, rear drivers

and 20-25% for 4wd motors.

It appears to me that Trappy is providing figures based on their quickest coupe yes ?

So the comparison should be made to our quickest FD at the mo which is the DRAGON one yes ?

So you got 11.94 V 9.62 :WaveBye

End of discussion maybe ??? :spank

Just out of interest Trappy, what have you actually done in your car? I mean in terms of drag, airfield, track, advanced driving, etc, etc.
