veilside mirrors

Hi can anyone help please.
I have just got a set of second hand veilside mirrors and need to know how to connect them up so the motor works.
When I remove my original mirrors I have a connector which reach\'s down in the door and has three connections on it the veilside mirrors I have a flat connector which has four connectors.
Anyone fitted some, if bought new would you get an adapter or just cut and splice.
Anyone know what colour wire goes to what?
