My wipers look as though they are struggling - particularly at speed.  Is this  a common problem on the FD?  Should I just look out for a 2nd hand motor or will a bit of good old WD40 do the job  :)

allstaruk

Don\'t use WD40 its not a lubricant, get some oil and drip a bit down onto where they wipers meet the car and keep doing this for about a week and it should go away.

if that doesnt work, i have a 2nd hand motor that i bought for my fd but sold the car before i fitted it.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Hi mate, its a common problem, it might not/probably wont be the motor, the windscreen wiper pivot point is probably the culprit, try what allstaruk suggests, if that doesnt work it needs stripped and greased, you have to be very carefull which kind of grease you use as normal mechanical grease can cause the plastic sleeve the the shaft turns in to expand making it even slower.

Pip @ WGT showed me exactly how to fix it, try giving him a phone, if not email me on the address below and i will give you my number and talk you through it if you like.. to long winded to post, its simple to do and it will probably save you buying a motor you dont need.

Cheers
