For those of you who have been following my story regarding my RX7 Groupama have gone behind my back and paid me directly into my bank account a sum of money that I have not agreed to accept, nor signed any legally binding document in any format to say that I accept their assessment and categorisation of my car.

I do not know where tyhis leaves me but I will use the money to rebuild my car and put it back on the road.

But I advise anybody dealing with this company to be very wary as no doubt now I am going to have an even bigger battle to sort this mess out and the worst part is knowing that none of it is my own damm Fault!!!

Send them a letter thanking them for the deposit and you look forward to recieving the balance before any documents will be signed.

Thanks for the warning, it seems it can be very hard to get a true value for any classic car, how do i go about getting mine valued? it will be back on the road soon and i would like to get a agreed value with some sort of evidence before anything should happen to mine

Adrian flux seem to think getting a car valued involves sending them loads of photos none of which they ever seem happy with !

i was always under the impression you got a \'expert\' to asses the car and agree a value with the insurance company?

just had to fill out a form and send of 10 or so photos. I\'m not going back with Adrian Flux if I can help it though as they are so useless I\'d hate to have to ever make a claim with them !

perhaps we should run some sort of poll to find out how the companys are rated with real claims as they have enough money from us we should have the best service

Part of full club membership is assistance from the club to obtain agreed value insurance cover.

The best way as I thought was to do what I did and that is all photos you have of the work to date done to your car plus the photos of the finished car post or email them to the broke and insurance company prior to getting your insurance so that you get an agreed value on your car.

Also declare anything such as special alloy wheels bodykits and engine mods to be included in the policy.

I have a Cat ! alarm and certificate which helped reduce the cost of the insurance. The insurers will ask for a copy of the certificate for verification.

I did use Firebond as my broker and they were very helpful until this happened so I am not sure if will use them again once my car is repaired although I may give them a call first before going elswhere. They normally advertise in classic car weekly a good website to use is confused.com as they can give some guide to costs.

I hope this helps

With regards

Paul

Just a quick add on after reading through the rest of the threads ask the insurance company if they accept proof from an independent car valuer, if they doubt the validity of photo\'s.  I have seen some of these advertised in CCW as well
