I need to uprate my fuel pump before I fit my extra injectors, Pip has said he fits a walbro one that flows 255 litres / hour, that will cope with my plans but the company he gets them from repacks them so he doesn\'t have the walbro number to hand, anyone know where I can get one of these? Or ideally know the model number so I can contact my suppliers?

Pip also said they are almost a direct replacement, is this true and what  modifications do I need to be prepared for if any?

Also how do you get to the pump? under the rear seats? or do I have to drop the tank?

Many thanks

Mark

All you need to do is in your boot area is remove the carpet and cardboard floor, then you will see on the left hand side of the boot floor a metal cover held on with screws, remove the cover then you will the fuel tank from above and the fuel pipes going into it along with an electrical connector, MAKE SURE YOU DISCONNECT your battery before doing any work. Now disonnect the wiring connector, then prise off and mark the fuel rubber hoses for the fuel ouput and return lines. Then with a small phillips screw driver remove the six screws that hold on the fuel pump assembly, then you can lift the whole assembly out and change the pump over. Refitting is the reverse of removal lol

Here are some pictures when I fitted my bosch pump, I believe the Nissan skyline GTR pump is the way to go now, no need to mod the metal fuel output line

Mark, you can get the walbro fuel pump from Ebay, they sell for around £85 :Tongue1

Thanks for that, I\'ve found a R33 GTR pump, but i\'ve been told they only flow about 190 litres/hour?

Yeah other than that, £85 for the walbro is the cheapest so far.

What did you need to modify to fit the bosch pump?

Just a reminder. Be very careful when removing and putting back the fuel pump assembly.

Look at the picture attached. See the circle in red. I would call that a fuel level float. Be sure not to knock it when removing/installing the fuel pump assembly. Because it may screw up the fuel level indicator. I screw up mine, by lucky I manage to get it "fixed".

Enjoy...

I thought the R33 or R34 GTR pump are quite good upgrades for FD??  and cheap as well.

Does anyone know what is the flow rate on a standarad fd pump?

jasonlel

I think is 160

BlitzBoy, Do you know which 044 you have? I am led to belive there is two types an Internal and an External. I don\'t supose you know how to tell them apart?

I have one at the moment and i\'m not sure which one? but it would be good if i could fit it Internaly?

those are standard r33 pumps. The upgraded ones we put in fD\'S that cost between 260-300 is the apexi r33 pump which flows 276lt/ph you do the fuel pump wiring it will flow a lot more.

I have the 040 internalgood for 350 at the wheels, I maxed out the gtr pump at 450, but as Brain says you can rewire for more flow.
Im going for a swirl pot and a modified 044 and using the 040 as the lift pump

so the standard R33 GTR pumps are no good?

I don\'t know what Walbros go for in UK.. but some people have ran dual Walbros here in the states. Also, you could run dual stock FD pumps also.

But single 255 high flow walbro should be sufficient upto 500HP

Hi All,

Personally we won\'t sell Walbro\'s as I know of at least three cases over the years of failures, also if you seriously tune your car these can\'t keep up.

We sell the 044 as a one size fits all for no matter how much power you have, these can be used for external or dropped in the tank as a direct replacement to the stock pump, however because these suck sooooo much you will need a quarter of a tank of fuel in the tank to keep it fed. ( we sell these for £180 +vat)

Its also worth you knowing that we now supply custom fuel swirl pots made to your spec and dimensions with air bleeds for £160 + vat.

 Hope this helps
