Quick and easy, does anyone here polish bits from their engine (eg plenum, elbow, pipes) themselves? If so what do you use to clean and polish them?

I have done it in the past but to be honest it takes so long doing it by hand that i usually just send it out to be done, its not very expensive these days when they have the correct kit,

example it took me 10 hours to polish each rocker cover on my v6 probe.

all i do is wet and dry getting finer and finer then use a polishing kit with the mops then lots of autosol.

saying that last weekend i polished a set of 10" mini alloys, (rim only) that took about an hour an half per rim by hand. The time all depends on what finish is there to start with, painted stuff isnt too bad, then laquered stuff, cast stuff takes a while though.

ive got 2 large boxes of bits ready for polishing at the moment.

Hmmm, definitely sounds like too much effort for me :) Think I\'ll just try and find a place local that polishes small items.

Cheers for the info

yeah i\'ve done them myself. got all the parts out of B&Q and machine mart.

read on a site it took a guy most of a day but i ended up taking my time and did it over 3 days.

was really happy with the end results.

i\'ll post up some pictures and stuff i used at the weekend if you want?
