Hi
Finally got around to getting these photos off my phone.I know the quality isn\'t that great but i think you\'ll get the jist.
This is what happens to your pride and joy when engine fires occur.Thats not sunlight shining on the car thats the mess fire extinguishers make, especially in the hands of a panicing me!
My advice is buy yourself a big extinguisher!!

Morning All.
The fire was caused by the old original fuel lines splitting and an electrical fault. The fire burnt out the wiring looms, all the solinoids, fuel lines, the air con,etc etc. Thankfully no fire damage to the bodywork and paint.
The good news is the car is in the safe hands of Ross and his team down at Dragon. According to Ross the engine having clocked 77.000 miles, was on it\'s last legs anyway and due for a rebuild.
To cheer myself up i\'ve upgraded the spec on the engine, including single turbo, and loads of other goodies!
Hopefully she\'ll be back very soon, and ready for this years show season.
Will post a new thread when she returns with a full spec sheet.
Cheers
Pete

I cant stress this enough, I had a similar experience, oil leak on turbo. In all my years driving I have never carried an extiguisher, and for some reason that day there was a small bottle at home in a cupboard that I took out and put in the car. Saved the car, but not my embarrassment, as I was showing my boost to an M3 and had to pull over quickly when I saw the flames coming out of my vented bonnet.

I have the fire extinguisher in my FD ever since I bought it. I read too many horror stories to be feeling good without having one with me. Its a cheap insurance.

**** ... looks well bad in the pics . Glad there is no body damage as well .
i best put the extinguisher in the car and not have it sitting in my room .

Hi
Was talking to another FD owner recently,he had the same problem and fire!
He didn\'t have a extinguisher and had to stand there and watch his car burn!
He lost the entire front end before the fire brigade turned up.
Even after the rebuild i\'ll be putting another between the front seats, just for peace of mind. The last extinguisher cost around 30 quid, and it saved my car.
Not alot to fork out for safety sake.

Better have my fuel lines checked A.S.A.P.    :yes

A good lesson learnt Sparrow....even in my £200 Rx2 there is a fire exting and a BIG one once the 7 is done BIG one will go in there as well...never be caught short. If I had an FD I would have a full MSA exting fitted... :Typing ...worth the money

Can anyone recommend a reasonable priced extinguisher? I have a cheap one, like the ones they have on eBay, but I suspect it won\'t do the job.

Bought mine from Halfords, just get the biggest one you can fit in the car.
Make sure it has a gauge on it that show\'s you it\'s condition.

Are Plummed in Fire Extinguishers legal? I have been thinking of getting a Rally type with the canister in the Boot out of the way?
