Import 1994 RX7 R = churchill £1453 fully comp  :confused:

They don\'t like imports do they, generally is this the story or is there somewhere thats more sensible for imports happy with the UK car quote, under £900 is acceptable.  They wanted £1350 for my MR2T this year and I promised myself I would never pay that much insurance again.

You won\'t get a good quote from a mainstream insurer like Churchill.

they don\'t like imports mate no, but they also don\'t like UK RX\'s. Most places don\'t have a UK RX on their databse and wont give a quote or will argue that it has to be an Automatic not a manual as their magic no-it-all database says so and can\'t be wrong.

Try some others on here mate. I can personally reccomend a couple:

Hoddesdon Insurance Consultants 0845 121 2212 will probably be Martin you speak to, nice guy and seems to know his stuff.

Beware with Admiral, if you intend too do any mods they will insure the car but will not replace any mods. In other words say you have aftermarket wheels and they are stolen/damaged. They will only replace them with standard wheels, seems a bit of a rip off really. They sting you for the privilage of having mods but dont wanna pay out if they have to replace them. Found out this when we reinsured the wife\'s car so we changed over to a company called insurance 4u. They matched the quote and covered the mods like for like.........hth cheers Leigh.

Im 25, been riding superbikes for 3 years but cars for only a year, and they wouldnt touch me, if they did they wanted 3k plus, so in steps the wife....lol
shes 36 tomorrow, but not got any no claims as there on the other car, they wanted 542 fully comp with just her driving or get ready..... 1137 with me on too.....so just bite my lip and paid the money......you have tp watch then tho as they did base that on a 2.4 (said 2.6 wasnt coming up) they have changed it now to 2.6 but still let us pay the same price......just make sure they have the right car before you take it out....

yeah be careful with admiral (and others) they may well be quoting on it as 2354cc not 2616cc.

(Before Bobfish pops up I\'m not condoning the fact that insurers have them as 2616cc but that\'s what they are according to the DVLA and I for one don\'t fancy invalid insurance!)

have a look at AON i called round everywhere & they were by far the best,im 28 with 6 yrs ncb.Aon dont take noclaims into account so less ncb is no problem,if u insure it as a modern classic my premium is £523 a year fully comp with milage limited 2 5000 miles

I subsequently went and bought an Eunos rather than the RX7 due to the wildly varying amounts people on here said it cost to get engines sorted out etc.  Anyway I went with AON for the Eunos, 1997 1.8.  As said they don\'t take ncb into account (as long as you have another car and what your covering with them is a low mileage 2nd car) and it came out as £214 fully comp per annum

I still intend on going for a FD at some point in the future, well after i\'m bored of the eunos.  Maybe next summer if I don\'t end-up bolting a GT28 on to my eunos over the winter .
