which clutch?

my TII is due a new clutch, just wondering which one to buy, and what everyone else is using.

Welcome to the board firstly. :wave

I know that most of the FD boys and OJ are fitting the Exedy clutch. The standard uprated unit can deal with around the 400-450BHP power figure, yet it doesnt feel that much different to the standard clutch.

Other than that the standard Mazda seems to be the standard fit.

Mazda clutch oem are,nt to bad if everything is stock they are worth buying one month and fit the next, instead of cheaper
patern parts.
However if you going to keep the car a while and do stuff
then get your self an uprated job.
I have a centreforce clutch 33% up on stock but I would say
Its only slightly beter.
There are places in the uk that will supply a big clutch but
I dare say you will have to let go of Â£450-Â£550

And the rest, Exedy Hyper single plate kit (complete clutch kit and ally flywheel I think from recollection) for the FD goes about Â£800. The twin plate kit about Â£1200...

You get what you pay for I think. I have a Cusco twin plate in my FD as its the nutts. I\'m driving a half bridgeport single turbo FD atm which has a Hyper single in it and it seems to work very well...

OJ is hindered by lack of clutch due to him being one of them lazy slush box drivers

Sorry dan, I thought you knew I didn\'t do manual labour...!! *grin* I am looking to maybe get the torque converter fiddled with... to get a better launch.

Well, my slush box killed a Porsche Boxter S last night...

AND I\'ve not missed a gear in over 3 years!!

Practically the same as the auto box from the jc cossie. And they take 300 hp and lb in stock form.

Should be no probs for your spec mate I\'d have thought.

I\'m kinda hoping for around 350hp flywheel (I think that\'ll be enough for me...), so as long as the box can take it, I\'ll be happy...

The Mazda JC Eunos Cosmo.

Plenty of BIG power rotors are still running the S6 box in stock form. I think the autos are fairly hunky (just like u honey) too. There are plenty running 350FW over here without any major traumas?

Cool - I\'ve seen people talking about upping the stall converter and brazing things in the box to strengthen them, but I\'m only gonna bother with that if I go single turbo...
